Hawaii Country Club
About
Hawaii Country Club was one of the first golf courses in West Oahu. Unlike many of the island's courses that are relatively flat, this course is defined by its landscape of rolling hills and valleys. The dramatic elevations provide scenic views that stretch to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. Another defining characteristic of the golf course is the hundreds of natural Monkey Pod trees that are scattered throughout. The layout is not particularly long, placing an emphasis on accuracy and good course management over long distance driving. Be careful on the greens, they may not be fast but they are very undulating. If you misjudge the slopes, you could easily end up putting three or four times. Hawaii Country Club finishes with an uphill blind approach on a par 4 that is short but tough.

This is the worst kept course I have ever played!
The greens are in horrible shape. The bunkers are filled with dirt. The fairway is filled with dirt. The cart path is dangerous with terrible road conditions. A couple of pins were down. We couldn't tell where the next hole was located or where the 9th and 18th pin was.
excellent course for beginners
I had a great time I want rushed, really nice time.
Course is getting better being that it's being maintained.
Upkeep is needed, most attention given to the greens. Ground was hard in most places. Discounted game.
I played this course for the first time, very little watering has been done. They only recommendation I would make to golfer is to get a special game on line for a good price.
This course is in need of attention!!!
It was either this course or Bay View in Kaneohe. We chose this course because it was closer. I regret ever playing here. The only thing I found pleasant was the staff. Do not waste your money. There is more grass on the greens then in the fairways. Course is poorly marked. Bathrooms on the course where taken over by lizards.. Lots of steep grades on the pothole cart paths and the brakes won't hold you so you have to park parellel to the cart path.
Course needs some TLC
Probably the worst kept course I've ever played anywhere.
Greens are your front lawn cut short. Greens were bumpy and ran about a 5 on the stimp meter.Fairways were mostly dead grass and dirt. Course looks like it could of been great to play back in it's hey days but it has fallen do to poor maintanance.
Great affordable neighborhood course in Hawaii
I've played this course several times in the past year, and it's getting better. The 3 greens that were under repair are finally finished. I'm a high handicapper, and I will continue to play here (I live only 15 minutes away) until I perfect my game. You can't beat the $25 twilight at 3:30pm, and you don't have to bring the carts in until 7pm. This is a much better deal than the municipal courses, and the staff is much friendlier. Yeah it is not a pristine course, but it lacks the crowds and anyone pushing you along to finish. You can actually relax and work on your game here. If you like easy, wide open courses and want to work on your game, I highly recommend this course. Did I mention there is a bar with beer and snacks?
Have fun; I know I always do!

Good
If you want to just get out and play this is the place. We played in 3 hrs. Staff is friendly. Course was a little dry. Price is right.
This course was terrible, wasted my time and money.
This course was terrible, not worth the money. I would not play again or recommend to an enemy let alone a friend.
needs more water. not hazards but for the grass
this is a short and easy course. not the greatest conditions but for the price you cant go wrong.
Don't go
Course should be closed. 2 temp greens, bunkers have 60% grass in them. GolfNow should take them off as it lessens my opinion of their reputation. Condition of tee sign in picture should explain it all.
Great course for the price. But this ain't a top notch course
Paid 15$ for a round w/ my son. Great practice course and great for kids as they have junior tee boxes. The greens aren't the greatest and the fairways could use some help but overall for the price it's great!
Grounds Neglected
Granted we have had a lot of rain recently, that does not excuse the fact that the grass needs to be cut. On several holes, over 60%, the fairway grass was easily over an 1" tall. On several holes it took us awhile to find our balls that were hit off the tee and into the fairway because it was laying in a 1" - 1 1/2" of grass. It literally felt like I was playing from the rough all day. Additionally, there is so much weeds on the greens now that it is almost impossible to putt with any aim. The ball will hop around at least a few times on a 6 foot putt making it it almost impossible to predict on where it will go. We all just tried to hit the ball into a 3 foot radius around the hole all day because aiming was pointless most of the time. Having said that, for $39 on a Saturday, one cannot complain to much, but I have been playing here off and on for quite some time and this is the worst that I have seen the course in awhile. The low price is the only reason I give a 2 star rating instead of 1 star. I am not a grounds keeper of any sort, but just cut the fairway grass and pull the weeds on the green instead of just cutting them down low and we will remain returning players. Myself and my buddies will most likely put this course on our "last resorts" list, even if it is only $39, if the conditions remain the same.
Cow Pasture
What a mess of a course. Better grass on my lawn, much more kept too. Holes 10, 11, 16 are all under temporary greens, but the temp greens on these holes are better then the greens on the other 15 holes. There is no definition from the Fairways to the Rough, and there isnt much grass left, its mostly weeds. The Cart Paths are also starting to be grown over.
Would absolutely, positively, 100% NEVER come back. I wouldn't give it 1 Star in the review except it forces me too..
Fun Course...Could use some TLC!
I am a beginner golfer, so paying $20 per person for a full 18-Hold round of golf with cart was an exceptional deal. I have to say, even though the greens are TERRIBLE, its a course that I'm definitely enjoying learning the game on. You really do get what you pay for, but I don't mind.
The course needs TRANSFORMATION.
The hilly mountain view of Pearl Harbor is beautiful. The course is rough and tough, some greens and fairway are so dry. But, playable and not by the book rule. I guess you can make your own fun rules to make it playable and fun.
Course in very poor condition
I would not play this course again. The traps were full of weeds. The greens had lots of bare spots and weeds. The cart paths need to be replaced. The fairway and ruff are all cut the same length. No definition to the fairway
Bad condition
Greens are bad, fairways uncut, and difficult to find ball in the fairway. Bunkers hard as concrete and full of weeds.
course is in terrible condition
no maintenance , weeds throughout the course, dried out moss on putting greens where areas have no turf
The greens were terrible.
Price is great, but the condition of the greens weigh more heavily. Greens condition were terrible.
A muni in tropical paradise
Maybe some what biased as I had an eagle on a 495 yard par 5. The $30 round was very enjoyable. The greens on rest of the island were not much better as aeration in full force. Some of the par 4s were a bit short (risk - reward). I enjoyed the round at Hawaii CC just as much as Koolau.
