Kahili Golf Course
About
Kahili Golf Course is positioned on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, offering picturesque views of the regal Haleakala and the Pacific Ocean.
The world-class layout is a popular stop for visiting and local, amateur and tournament golfers alike. The par-72, 6,554-yard course, constructed in 1991, was designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright.
Elevation changes are the norm at Kahili, with par 3s on the back side laying up and downhill to small greens. A lake and a dry creek bed are in play on the front side, making accuracy a necessity. And the par 5s are short enough to give long hitters a chance at birdies and eagles.
Kahili features beautiful practice facilities with a driving range and putting and chipping greens. Golfers can relax after a round at Kahili Restaurant, which offers good food at value prices. Also, for golfers with larger party needs, the Nahele Banquet Room is the ideal location for weddings, reunions, business meetings and seminars.

beautiful golf fun
beautiful golf fun, when there is wind has a good degree of difficulty, without being impossible, staff very pleasant and helpful
I was there for four times in a row and will be back to play
grazie
Nice day on a nice course
Upon arrival, staff was very friendly and accommodating. They loaded my clubs on a cart right away and had brand new Nike rental clubs for my playing partner.
Course was in great condition as we went off at 8 am. Cart was brand new too, with a nice GPS system.
Not crowded and we went at our won pace, just under 4 hours. it was a bit windy, but not enough to bother us.
Got a great rate from GolfNow.com and would play here again, and again.
A Great Value for the Money - Best to Play in the A.M. (P.M. Winds)
On a 1-10 scale, the overall condition of this course is at least a 7. There are courses on Maui that cost 2 or 3 times as much as Kahili, that don't rate any higher! The greens were in good shape (A), the traps were fair (B-), the fairways were a bit spotty (C+), and the tees were above average (B). But for the money, this is still a great value. This course can be extremely difficult when the winds are blowing - which is most of the time given the location of this course. The combination of a hillside course and the wind make putting an adventure at Kahili. Downhill and downwind putts can roll on forever! Once you get used to the wind changing your ball flight by at least 10-15 yards, this is a FUN course. A great combination of short and long par 4s and a couple of reachable par 5s. I missed most of the greens in regulation (only hitting 4 of 18) - but I still shot 80 from the back tees. I will play this course every time I am on the island of Maui.
Excelelnt value golf on Maui
Having played this course many times on our biannual visits to Maui, my wife and I have always enjoyed our rounds at Kahili. Located centrally on the island on the windward side of the mountain, this course gets plenty challenging by bringing the factor or the strength of the wind into play. The course itself is well maintained with greens that are typical for the island - you have to pay attention to the grain to putt well. Fairways are well groomed, and the tee areas are in good condition.
We have noticed that this course gets less play than many of the other courses on the island, probably due to its location away from the tourist areas. This is a benefit for the golfer who likes a course that plays quickly. We played the course a couple of days before they were hosting the Hawaiian Junior Golf Championship.
The restaurant at the clubhouse looks inviting, with a prime rib and seafood buffet that was given many awards for its quality of food (Thursday evenings).
This course meets our "Three F's" - Fun, Fast, and Friendly.!
Great course, great views.
Enjoyed the course, first nine played extremely fast, back nine was moderate to slow. Would without a doubt thanks to the Golf Now rate would play it again. Excellent value.
Beautiful course
The staff is courteous, profesional and friendly, though not in a back-slapping way, appropriate for a golf environment. The course itself is a fabulous resort course. Not crazy hard, never crowded, beautifully landscaped, and well groomed. The only problem you might face here is the killer winds, worse later in the day. If you luck out, like we did the other day, you are in for a treat. Good pro shop too, as is the restaurant. Lots of locals come here just to eat. Adjacent to the private King Kamehameha course, under same ownership, and you basically get the same level of service.
Beautiful course!
Very friendly staff! Well maintained course. Enjoyed playing this course.
Challenging on a windy
I play each time I visit Maui, it's has excellent views for the cost. Be prepared for a lot of wind. Downwind holes play short, into wind holes play long.
Great value.
What a great value. The staff here are super friendly and the course is really fun to play. Played Wailia Gold before this and Kahili is in much better shape, especially the greens. Try this course you won't regret it.
Great course, excellent round, fantastic location!
This is the second time I've played this course and, if I get another chance to return to Maui, I will play it again.
Played with my two sons. None of us are golfers to write home about, but this place has everything a high-handicapper could ask for. A challenging course without hammering whatever confidence I've gained in my 1 1/2 years of playing the sport. Of course, the wind is always a factor, but that's one of the challenges!
The pace of play was as slow, or as fast, as we wanted. Not a lot of golfers for a Friday morning, but that's OK with me. Greens were excellent, fairways in great shape. Only a couple spots where the plumbing left some wet spots. Only downer was my boys' cart died about 50 yards shy of the clubhouse. Not a problem for them.
Thanks Kahili for another good time...
Awesome greens
Beautiful layout. Inviting greens but tricky. Wind makes club selection challenging but fun. Played 18 and kept going for another 9. A little local knowledge helps.
Beautiful course and views, friendly staff, I would play again and stronglyr recommend.
We played in July, had a wonderful trim, beautiful landscaping, personal service. Had lunch at the club restaurant and the view is fantastic food and service very good as well. I would strongly recommend. There is wind so mornings tend to be a better time to play.
Very windy up on the hill, but a nice course for the money.
Much more wind than the other courses we played down towards Wailea. Course is well laid out but plays one or two clubs longer on all uphill holes. Greens and fairways in excellent shape. Greens ran medium speed with typical island grain impact. The group enjoyed the day but needed to shape most shots to score well.
Absolutely loved it!!!!!!
Tried something different this year instead of the resort courses and absolutely loved this course! Challenging and scenic with no development around. This will be essential part of my repertoire for years to come.Hope it stays so reasonably priced.
Muni golf with course conditions as is...
Decent layout, but felt like I was wondering through someone's backyard.
Layout was worth $80, but course condition valued at $30.
challenging, well-priced course
This is perhaps the best deal on Maui. Excellent course, friendly staff. For $59 it's a steal. I liked the course better than most on Maui that charge twice or three times as much. Every hole is unique and when the wind is blowing, as it was when I played, it's a real challenge. Greens are good and, mercifully, not super fast. Great views.
Beautiful views/features.
this course is situated in the foothills of maui with beautiful views and enough trees/water hazards to make it very interesting. the staff is very helpful and friendly.
Nice course for the money.
Golf course was pretty and a nice layout. They had just aeriated the greens but i knew that beforehand and some of the grees were still a little sandy but overall not too bad. i will play this one again on this trip.
Great value in Maui
I have played most of the courses in Maui, and keep coming back here. The course is challenging, but not super difficult. The green fees make this one of the best values in Maui.
WILL TELL ALL TO PLAY THIS COURSE !
Very friendly staff, great facitities. challenging yet managable. Will definitly want to play again.
