Kahili Golf Course
About
Kahili Golf Course is positioned on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, offering picturesque views of the regal Haleakala and the Pacific Ocean.
The world-class layout is a popular stop for visiting and local, amateur and tournament golfers alike. The par-72, 6,554-yard course, constructed in 1991, was designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright.
Elevation changes are the norm at Kahili, with par 3s on the back side laying up and downhill to small greens. A lake and a dry creek bed are in play on the front side, making accuracy a necessity. And the par 5s are short enough to give long hitters a chance at birdies and eagles.
Kahili features beautiful practice facilities with a driving range and putting and chipping greens. Golfers can relax after a round at Kahili Restaurant, which offers good food at value prices. Also, for golfers with larger party needs, the Nahele Banquet Room is the ideal location for weddings, reunions, business meetings and seminars.

Kahili Golf Course Photo submitted by vhendersontr6 on 10/17/2012
Beautifully maintained and scenic course
Very enjoyable course! Variety of holes with lots to keep your interest, but not overly punishing. Will play again soon!
A Course You Should Play
I played from the blues. In the wind the course is a good test. The course was in good shape. A key to good putting is understanding the grain.
Very scenic
Great pace of play, challenging greens a must play .
One of our favorite courses on Maui
All of the staff we encountered were very nice and accommodating. The course is well maintained and the scenic views of the island are excellent.
The onsite restaurant overlooks the golf course and serves excellent food.
Nice value priced course
Played this course on the windiest day of our Maui stay. In to the wind hols were a struggle. Fairways and greens were in good shape for the most part. The grain of the greens gave playing partners fits. Some puts appear to break uphill. Bunker sand a bit inconsistant and the bunker "lining" was showing in several. The wind made it difficult to keep the ball in the fairway on some holes and club selection was very challenging. We were very surprised to find out the resturant (19th hole) closed at 5:00 so no post round beer. Still can't believe the place closed so early. Make sure you choose your tee time accordingly. We tee'd off at 12:30 and with the wind it was a 4 1/2 hour round. Since the wives dropped us off at the course we had to just sit and wait for them to return...without a beer! Oh well, their loss as we tend to be big spenders at the 19th hole. Really...that bar was closed!!!
Beautiful course with spectacular views and an amazing price!
My family and I really enjoyed playing here. Impressive views and interesting holes. The course was playable but challenging, especially the greens. Definitely will play here when i return to Maui!
Scenic course, challenging trap placements, multi tiered greens.
Absolutely beautiful setting for a very well manicured course. Plenty of challenges for an average golfer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Reasonable value for a course of this quality in comparison with other courses on Maui.
Even though I played on April 1, this is not an April 1 review.
Wonderful value and great experience
I found the staff to be very helpful and very accommodating. The pace of play was great. The course was wonderfully challenging, but very fair. It was a great experience.
Fun course- great views
The course is one of my favorites on Maui. Interesting holes, great views. The course can be challenging when it's windy. Greens were a little slow and many showed signs of recent repairs. Fairways were in great shape.
Great Views!!
Course was in great condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Challenging but not overly difficult layout. Play early to avoid wind.
Need course marshals out there
On the third occassion that the trailing threesome shot through our group on blind tee shots (ignoring their GPS) and bouncing a ball literally off my head, I drove back to suggest that they cool it as I'd just been hit (17th hole)...by the time we were teeing off on 18, one of them screeched to a halt behind us and yelled at us for taking his ball (nonsense) - their 3 balls were left where they lay on 17. Most unpleasant. (10:14 tee time)
This course is great to improve your wind game. Not very long but challenging due to the wind.
The course is very well maintained, and has some spectacular views from the front nine. Many blind shots but not usually leading to trouble. The greens are consistent and failrly fast. Loved the course and will be back.
Great for high handicappers or pros.
Wind blows hard, but you are either straight into it or have it on your back. Very quiet for a Saturday morning with lots of twosome so played very fast. No marshals or beer cart but wasn't missed with an early tee off, and snack shop on the course after nine. We played 5 different courses over past two weeks and I'd put this at the top for value and a very enjoyable place.
Pretty course that is run like a low end muni
My husband and I have played this course a few times over the years and always have a great time here. The course has a nice layout with interesting holes and many elevation changes throughout, is woman friendly, aesthitically pleasing to the eye, has beautiful views of the mountains and valley. The course itself is in great condition but not as plush as the resort courses.
The carts have GPS which is always helpful, range balls are not included, nor is water so bring your own (there are no water stations on the course), we did not see a beverage cart during our round.
Great Day/Manageable Wind
I hadn't played this course in past years due to concerns about tradewinds and effect on play. Picked a day when tradewinds were predicted (moderate) and possibility of rain. Just a few sprinkles and moderate wind (really only affected play on less than half the holes). Course was in great shape and tremendous views in all directions from foothill location. Wonderful day. I'll do it again next time in the Islands.
Way better than staying in Kaanapali
If you have a car, go there. Courses in the resort are not any better and way pricier
Not worth your time or money.
The GPS in the cart was wrong every hole, sometimes the yardage was as much as three clubs off or 30 yards into the green. When I called to let the pro shop know I was told there was nothing they could do about it and not to use the GPS then was hung up on. The person running the snack shop left to restock it at noon causing a long line and back-up on #10. The pace of play was decent, but not worth the time required to drive to the course. This was my 2nd and last time playing this course.
Good course to play
This is the first time I golfed at Kahili. I heard about this course from a friend. The scenery is good. Course conditions are good. Just a little windy and I have to keep the ball flight low. I would come back again.
Best value on the island
Friendly resort course--wide fairways, beautiful views, lots of elevation changes. It's no Kapalua, but it's a quality Hawaiian experience for a third of the price.
