Kahili Golf Course
About
Kahili Golf Course is positioned on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, offering picturesque views of the regal Haleakala and the Pacific Ocean.
The world-class layout is a popular stop for visiting and local, amateur and tournament golfers alike. The par-72, 6,554-yard course, constructed in 1991, was designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright.
Elevation changes are the norm at Kahili, with par 3s on the back side laying up and downhill to small greens. A lake and a dry creek bed are in play on the front side, making accuracy a necessity. And the par 5s are short enough to give long hitters a chance at birdies and eagles.
Kahili features beautiful practice facilities with a driving range and putting and chipping greens. Golfers can relax after a round at Kahili Restaurant, which offers good food at value prices. Also, for golfers with larger party needs, the Nahele Banquet Room is the ideal location for weddings, reunions, business meetings and seminars.

Kahili Golf Course Photo submitted by vhendersontr6 on 10/17/2012
good value for the money
Course was a little dry but in reasonable condition. Good restaurant, knowledgeable personnel, and overall a good value.
good value course on maui
played both this course and the private course. the difference was clear but have to say we did enjoy this course as well. this course was definitely easier, not as challenging. also private course better maintained, which is understandable. pace of play was about 4 1/2 hrs, a little slower than the private course (more play on the public course, less accomplished golfers, means slower play). overall a good value when compared to the resort courses available; would recommend playing there.
Well maintained course and great staff. Good Value during high season.
Will probably play again while I am vacationing. Again great course wilth super staff.
A very enjoyable course to play, with some nice scenery as well.
A very enjoyable day of golf with some nice scenery as well.
We played in the morning and although there was some wind, it didn't spoil the day. The degree of difficulty from white and blue tees was appropriate. There were enough 'risk and reward' opportunities to keep more agressive players interested but a good round here was more about accuracy and quality golf shots.
The greens were in excellent condition and the course was well presented overall.
Staff were friendly and well organised.
Best value course on Maui
Kahili is a step below the great resort courses on Maui like Kaanapali, Kapalua and Wailea, but it delivers a great upper-middle class golf experience that most visitors will be able to afford. The setting is wonderful, set on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains and is entirely void of real estate. Like every course on Maui, there are ocean views, but these are from high, high up. It's a course that accommodates all handicaps, too. I played with my beginner girlfriend and she had a great time.
Good course...
Best value for golf on Maui. Course was in good condition, staff was super friendly, the weather is almost always good and the course was challenging enough.
Wonderful Experience
Staff was so friendly and professional. Well organized. The course is well maintained and provided a truly fun and entertaining experience. I look forward to playing it again...
Great layout, interesting, well run
I played this course nine times driving 40 minutes past a resort course where I stayed because I found my previous home course had become "over-played" and over priced. I found Kahili to be a course which was very well run, friendly, and a joy to play.
Tough day - great course - great staff
We grabbed a last minute round as a 2 ball and didn't check the weather before we went. 40-50 mph winds ! The PGA boys over at Kapalua were called off for the day but we stuck it out and enjoyed every minute of it - having the course almost to ourselves. The staff were great and we were looked after very well. The course itself is beautiful, greens were in great nick, as were the fairways although some of the visiting golfers obviously hadn't worked out how to repair their divots. In the conditions it was a real challenge and as teen handicappers we were happy to hit 100 with 40mph winds seeming to be straight at us or across on every hole. On a calm day I can imagine it would be relatively soft and great fun.
GPS trouble
Always like this Maui course. In summertime you struggle with the wind. Winter time is different since there was no wind issue. The greens were in good condition and so were the fairways. The trouble was the GPS with showed at most of the greens the wrong flag position and therefore the distance was wrong.
Great course, but windy
This is a beautiful, well maintained, and well priced course. The only issue are the strong winds that tend to hit the course. The course has a nice layout, great views, and was a lot of fun.
Good overall course at a great price
It is hard to beat $59 for a round of golf on Maui. The course does have some nice views of the ocean. I happened to play on a day when the wind was blowing 50 mph, which would make any course extremely challenging. The course setup I felt was a challenge, but fair. The course has a lot of character and fun holes to play. The greens were in good shape, and very difficult to read. I would definitely play here again, and pray for less wind. The pro shop is nice, with a wide variety of items, and good brands of clothing to choose from. If you can handle playing in the wind, I would say pay the $59 and know going in what you are getting into.
Too Windy
Too windy for a good game and they send out twosomes and singles, stupid way to run a course and no course marshall
Definitely worth playing 2-3 rounds here.
If you're a Canadian, you know what a treat winter golf is. This is my first trip to Maui and I was eager to strip off the extra layers of clothing and hit the links.
I know that golfing in Maui can be expensive and though I LOVE golf, I didn't want to sell my firstborn to golf here. I'm thankful for GolfNow.com because I was able to golf this course for under half of the regular green fees.
Don't let the low green fees fool you, it's a GREAT course. The course is fantastic as are the staff members. I was fortunate to play this course twice with very little wind. Apparently, Kahili is know for strong trade winds.
Best tip for Kahili? What one of the GolfNow reviewer's said - the rule of thumb is that the putts break towards the valley/water. I can't tell you how many times I stood over a putt and trusted my eye and was dead wrong.
If you're in Maui, do yourself a favour and golf Kahili.
Great coarse for the money, nice Mtn. side veiws of the island .
Great value for your buck. The coarse was well kept, greens were fast but in great condition. Water and sand hazards were well placed and not overwelming. Great veiws of the island.
beautiful views, firm fairways and a very nice layout. great clubhouse with a good restaurant.
This course at the current price per round is an amazing value for golf in Maui. Great course layout, challenging, especially when the wind picks up, true rolling greens and overalll well maintained.
Bang for your buck
As of now best golf value for your dollar! Fun course, I'm not a long hitter, so the hole lengths make it manageable
For me
Lovely course
Played the course twice during our stay. The first day was very windy and made the course very challenging. The second day was calm and much more player friendly. The course is very pretty and offers great views from some of the fairways. Being on the side of a mountain, the slope can really help or hurt some shots. The fairways are wide and lost balls dont seem to be a real problem. Several of the par threes are ball eaters so bring some water balls. The carts offer a little ice cooler and its a welcome touch.
Only two complaints. It can get very hot out there and the course has very limited water available so take water with you. It would have been nice to have a drink cart on the course or MORE water stations. The other note is that a few times the group in front of us got very slow and a player assistant/marshal might have been nice to keep the play going.
great all around
had the good luck to play on a calm day, it's very a
pretty course and an excellent value.
