The Woodlands Golf Club
About
Woodlands Golf Club, which sits only 30 minutes from St. Louis, is known for having some of the area's best greens. The putting surfaces roll true and hold well on the approach. This public course has garnered a local following thanks to not only its green conditions but also the affordable rates. With a diverse landscape and unique hole designs, it's definitely a shot-maker's layout. You'll probably use every club in your bag on this golf course. A long creek winds across the entire layout, coming into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the greensides. Although Woodlands Golf Club is relatively short at just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, it feels much longer thanks to a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic.

Nice small greens, well maintained
Several of the fairways were sloppy wet, but we recently had a storm and then more rain after that. Beautiful scenery and course layout. I will visit Woodland several more time before the year end. I had a wonderful time. Hot Dogs are very good as well.
Only play if you are a fast golfer and don't mind unmanaged play.
What can I say beautiful course, decent amenities, friendly clubhouse staff even the course manager seems very nice. Unfortunately all this is ruined by the course ranger and a mob rules mentality of course management. When you have a tee time that you are 45 minutes early for and you are 45 minutes late teeing off there is already something wrong. It was a busy day and they were obviously allowing walk-ins to double book tee times. They were also allowing people to go out in 2 somes instead of making 4 somes. I was on the 14th hole when the course ranger came up to our 4 some and told us to speed along play that the four different 2 somes behind us were complaining. Of course the 2 some behind us was moving slower that they would like. Mind you we were waiting at every tee box for the party in front of us. When I told the ranger that not once all day had the 2 some behind us been at the tee box behind us, but had been purposely staying back and hitting balls up on us he seemed not to care and told us to just speed it along. I suggest that if the players (who had never asked to play through) be allowed to play through) he did not make that happen. The party behind us hit on us again on the next hole so we abandoned play. I have never had a situation like this in nearly 30 years of golfing and will not be going back to this course. It is a shame too because the couse itself is pretty nice. Shame they don't put as much care into managing the course play as they do into course aesthetics.
Nice course
Given the summer conditions and the current time (Oct) I believe this course has held up well. Most of the areas are dry right now and somewhat hard but still very nice. Course is pretty, greens are very difficult. I'm an above average putter and only 1 putted 5 greens out of 18 (well and I didn't have a good day chipping). There is some interesting architecture to the course with a couple of very very difficult par 3s. Course is not overly long so I only pulled out the fairway woods 2x. Also not a quiet course, bridges are loud, other players are loud and the farming environment around the course is loud. But not so loud you can't play just adds to the environment. The personal are extremely nice, greensman and front staff very cordial. They even let us order a pizza for delivery since their kitchen was closed.
Great Course for Price greens ran pretty good. Fairways in great shape.
The tee boxes need to be more maintained, speed of ply so move faster, had to wait on a couple holes.
A good challange
Nice course layout and more than one par 5 which is always nice, Nice elevated holes and plenty of hazard's to play around...
