Can be a real nice course needs attention. Fairways had a lot of bare spots. Greens were in a neglected stage. Bunkers were like a gravel road. Nice layout.can be a real nice golf experience if........9
Great value, but tight fairways
Antioch is a surprisingly good value for the money. The course is well maintained, and it has some nice, scenic holes. I don't know if you can do that much better for the price in Lake County.
Pros:
-Value
-Some Challenging Greens
-A couple scenic holes
-Decent hole variety
Cons:
-Tight Fairways - not forgiving for the high handicapper
-Winds through houses a bit too much, and can occasionally be very confusing - where's the next hole now?
-Distances seem imprecise (but with Smartphones, who cares?)
-Greens AND Teeboxes were being aerated on my last visit
Overall, I'd definitely play again for the price.
Scenic course layout at a good price.
The very scenic course provides a challenge for all variety of skill sets. A unique course layout provides a setting that winds throughout different houses, landscapes, and terrain. All skills of golfers will enjoy the challenge and will be rewarded not only with good shots, but with a beautiful view as well.
Big improvement
Was pleasantly surprised by all the improvements to the course and the amenities. Great value for the money. Will be first class when the cart paths are paved and the irrigation system installed.
Not coping very well with the lack of rain thru August 30th.
I took advantage of a golfnow deal of $11 for 18 + cart.
I think this could be a nice course for a park district course. Conditions were poor and there needs to be maintained and watered fairways. Also, the sand traps were extremely hard packed; it was like chipping off a mat.
the greens were ok. No bev cart on a 90+ deg day.
This course has great features and green is very nice
In general, the course is interesting, short and small number of bunker. So if you want low score , play on this course. Especially price is very nice for course.
Take antioch golf course and have a fun!
Great course for the price.
I enjoyed playing the course, and after GolfNow it was $28 for 18 and a cart. You cannot beat that. The course does run through the golf community townhomes...as a beginner, it was somewhat nerve racking as even a slight slice from a tee box could result in hitting the homes / cars around the course. Not every hole had this threat...but enough to make me wary.
The greens played fast...but were well taken care of. I enjoyed the greens the most.
Cheap Fees, Cheap Course
With a $28 weekend rate, you can't go into a course expecting much. Overall, it is not that challenging of a course. The greens were on the soft side, but not overly slow. Most fairways were cut short, with longer rough. There were a few tee boxes that needed major attention. Had the first tee time of the day, so got through the round fairly quick. As cheap as it is, I could imagine the course getting congested in the afternoon.
cant beat for the price
Course has really came around in the last two years, fairways are in great shape and seem to be very well maintained. greens are in great condition, tenfold compared to prior years(different owner/staff). roll true and are fairly firm as compared to prior years when you didnt know what your ball would do when you hit it. several tee boxes are the only complaint, uneven and bare in spots. other than that you cant really beat it for the price and condition of the course.
antioch golf course
Greens were in good shape, play was slow. Lots of beginners on the course so you have to watch out for stray balls as people do not yell four on wayward shots.
Short and Challenging
The Course is in good shape and will make you want to take advantage of their short par 4's by pulling your Driver. Unless you can control it, Driver isn't really needed on many holes here. Each is hole is challenging as both sides of the fairway are surrounded by trees, homes, water, etc.
I enjoyed playing here but would definitely manage the course better in future rounds.
Great Course - Great Value
Antioch Golf Club is a great course to play at. It is definitely one of the best values around. The other day I paid $25 w/ cart for unlimited golf. I have yet to see a better deal online for all you can play golf. The course is in great condition, the fairways are kept short and the greens are rolling beautifully. The sand traps were a bit hard, but they were filling them with new sand that day so they are much better now. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. I would recommend this course to all golfers of all skill sets.
Great value and great fun!
Took my 7-year old nephew to play his first 9-holes ever. Had a blast!! Great value golf course. Would recommend to anyone who wants to play a quick, fun round of golf and not lose many golf balls.
Not what it used to be- but priced right...
The course has declined along with the pricing- which is appropriate. After playing the course back when Ken and/or Vince were the pros, it was more expensive, but also much better maintained. I'm not sure which one came first, but it used to be worth the poor layout of teeing off just steps from peoples back door and playing through their yards because it was in great shape. Now that the quality has fallen off, it's priced right at $28 for a weekend round on GolfNow. Bunker edges should not be heavily weeded, sand should resemble sand- not rocky concrete, many greens were shot and under repair, etc... Cart paths used to be nice gravel, now it looks like they chunked up a street and left the mini boulders for mass. If in the area, pay the extra few dollars and go to Fox Lake or Chapel Hill (which is in better shape even though they filed for bankruptcy years ago!).
Can't beat the value
A very interesting course, my second 18-hole course, at a really great price with the golfnow.com Hot Deal.
A couple of very challenging holes, the greens and fairways were in fair shape.
Variety of holes, and decent Sunday Pace of Play. Ranger was present on course, kept everybody moving.
Good pace of play, Ranger was present on the course. Great Staff. Great Value ($28)
Decent course with tricky back nine
The front nine is pretty vanilla with some longer holes but the back nine can be tricky with many placement shots needed. This is not the longest course but is fun to play.
Great Value for this Course
A nice lil getaway for those of us who live on the north side of the city. Great value. Course is in a neighborhood but the houses rarely come into play.
great cours to improve your game.
tee boxes could use a lot of work. greens were true. fairways in good shape. rough could be cut. was a good value for tne money. I enjoy playing this course.
