Arlington Lakes Golf Club
About
Arlington Lakes Golf Club is situated amid the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Locals treasure the course as one of the area's hidden gems. At 5,331 yards from the back tees, this par-68 layout is on the shorter side but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. Besides the mature trees that frame many of the holes and 14 lakes that come into play, there are more than 100 strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The layout also features small, sloped greens that demand accuracy but you can take comfort in the fact that there are no doglegs. With strategic shot-placement and a bit of luck, there are some birdie opportunities available. The shorter length of the golf course will appeal to beginners but it's versatile for more advanced players to enjoy as well.

Very good value
Everything was very good, staff, sign in, carts, pace of play and course condition. Looking forward to returning.
A challenging course transformed to an average course
On July 1, 2016 Arlington Lakes reopened after a year of renovations. So I am writing this review as a person who played the course many times before the renovations took place.
Bottom line: I liked the old course better. It was much more challenging; therefore, in my opinion, the old course was more fun to play.
An employee explained to me that the renovations sought to make the course easier to play; hence, an expected increase in the pace of play. I've played the "new" course three times and have not experienced a significant increase in the pace of play from the old course.
However, Arlington Lakes is now an easier course to play than before the renovations. Unfortunately, to me, many trees were cut down thus making what were once interesting holes very mundane.
There is plenty of water on this course and many narrow fairways. So accuracy is the key to success particularly because this is a short course from the back tees. So distance is not problematic.
The greens are in excellent condition and are not particularly fast.
So if you want to play some interesting target golf, give Arlington Lakes a try.
The NEW Arlington Lakes
Distance markers were not consistent. Some holes had stakes, some had fairway discs, some painted distances on cart paths. Need more drinking water.
Grass on Tee boxes was pretty rough.
Not worth the money.
Huge renovations were made and I thought I'd give it another shot. Unfortunately, I find it still not worth the amount of money they charge (especially on a day in the 90's). It is a great course for beginners.
Positives: Greens, bunkers, and fairways were in great shape. A lot better than before.
Negatives: Pace of play, tee boxes chewed up, and the cost.
Not worth it
If you want to play at a retirement home golf course come here. If you like playing with old ppl come play here. Started at 11:50 ended 4:15..And the course wasn't even long 5226 yards less then 6000yards will not play here ever again . The par 3 off of Dundee rd and 53 so much better.
Its a great course
A real SHAME they are tearing it apart and NO golf for over a year
Arlington Lakes
Most of the tee boxes were in rough shape, lots of sand, they're closing soon for a complete renovating the entire course. Looking forward to playing this course again when they're done
Excellent Condition
Course is in excellent condition, its lot of fun to play. We will recommend to try at least once
Slow pace great price
This course has lots of in experienced golfers and there is lots of wrong fairways played and the Pace is about 5:30 for 18 week day 6:00 pace week end and I have played here about 20 times because of the value!
Short course with narrow fairways.
Course for a convenient local round. Short with narrow fairways. Play can be very slow.
First timer
Played the day after Christmas when the temperature spiked to 50 degrees. The only option was to walk even though the grounds were firm. Ok no big deal... the course has some nice long fairways and some approaches when you're ~100 yds or so out are challenging b/c of bunkers. So many times you have to plan on landing on the back of the green unless you're very accurate from those distances.
One major area of improvement is marking the course as to where the next hole is. We were paired up with a guy who plays this course often and w/o him we would have been lost on some holes. Otherwise, nice course and I will definitely try it again.
one of the last days
we booked it Great Rate to walk and had a blast. The weather is changing and may not be any rounds left out there so we were thrilled to play. It's in nice shape a fun course - that I will play again and again. Fair Price and great shape for this time of year!
fall golf
The course was in excellent shape for a brick November day. The staff, as always, was helpful and courteous.
Wow - Thank you for the five star review!
We are happy to have exceeded your expectations. We love hearing from you and are glad you had a great experience. We look forward to having you back again soon! Until then, take care!
its short
This isn't my first choice because it s very short and nothing special. A great price though and I'd play for a quick weekday round
great greens, lots of undulations and bunkers on every hole.
The fairways were in great shape and the roughs were fairly cut. Did not see a ranger around. So, hard to ask why people were walking instead of using carts on an early Saturday. Morning tee times should be labeled for faster golfers and not for real slow foursomes.
Nice course but slow pace
The course was interesting with some challenging holes (9th hole is the toughest with all of the water surrounding the green) and interesting pin placements. We teed off at 12:30 and finished close to 5pm due to the many foursomes in front of us - we played "ready golf" the whole time to keep the groups behind us from backing up.
The bunkers reminded me of St. Andrews - they were deep and steep to get out of.
Hot weather lot's of 4somes equals long day
The weather was warm and the afternoon a bit humid. Pace of play was slow and bringing the wife along to play made it slower yet at it takes two shots to equal one of mine and then waiting for two other's to hit their balls made the day seem long. The course was a bit rough in spots not the worst I've seen but not the best condition either. You also have to also remember it is a muni. There isn't Ruffled Feather's money put into the course. The rough was a touch long the fairways nicely mowed. Water everywhere only found it once though. Greens were a bit challenging to read with subtle breaks but they break as expected toward the water away from hills/elevation. Everyone was nice and friendly. My best advice is go early and set the pace or later maybe even on a weekday as the weekends seem to be solid foursomes throughout the day.
Just like I remembered it.
Fun but Challenging course with rough that was deep.
Arlington

This course beat me up, I shot 91. I can't wait to play there again.
