Best in the area.
Best public course in the surrounding area. The practice area alone is worth a stop. Even if you don't have a tee time.
Construction season
There’s a lot of construction going on. However, staff has been really accommodating in every way in order to try to get us to still enjoy the round. Construction is obviously making things better for the course so I’m all for it. It’s just noisy as heck.
The main problem here is that the Marshalls don’t drive around asking whether or not people are keeping good pace. There are some people who really take their time on greens, and you almost can’t do anything about it. I wish tee times were 15 min apart and not 10.
Otherwise, love this course.
Bad situation made worse
This is a tough review since I really like the course and the staff. As previously mentioned by others there was a frost delay that wasn’t communicated well if at all. By trying to accommodate everyone they managed to infuriate almost everyone. 6 hour round and no rangers to move the slow pokes along. My guess is they didn’t want to confront people they already made upset. I guess my biggest complaint is they said nothing at check in and let you get the carts set up, range balls, drinks, whatever else, and then you found out from the starter. Nope, not the way to do it. Let me know at check in snicker me decide then not after the fact. Really the only bad experience I have had here, hopefully they learn from this major drop of the ball.
A must play.
Great course. Fast greens. Multi layered greens making your approach shots important. Facilities is outstanding with multiple short game and putting areas as well as a driving range. Very impressed with the city of Mount Prospect and their ability to run a muni golf course at such a high level.
Delay and Slow Play
They had tee times going off at 6am in early April then got hit with a 2.5 hour frost delay. So my early afternoon tee time was delayed an additional hour. On top of that, it was a 5+ hour round. The course is always great but the pace is brutal.
Thank you for your feedback and for the kind words about the course. We sincerely apologize for the long delay and slow pace you experienced. Frost delays can create a ripple effect throughout the day, and we understand how frustrating that is—especially when it leads to extended round times. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope to provide you with a smoother round on your next visit.
Chaos Begets More Chaos
When I arrived here with my son we were informed that there was a one hour delay because of frost. I get it that the weather can be fickle in the greater Chicagoland area. But there’s no way with technology being what it is today that they couldn’t send out a mass email or text message stating that there was a delay ? One guy in our group had a family thing to attend in the late afternoon. He convinced his wife that he would meet her wherever it was they were going to. That caused a little rift between them. Then while playing we knew it would be backed up for the entire round. We all agreed to not let it get to us. As we waited to take our approach shots on hole #15 the group behind started yelling at us to hurry up. Ridiculous ! They started swearing at us like a bunch of kids. A husband, wife, daughter, and friend. Of course it was the dad, probably around 50 years old. Two guys in our group are police officers and one retired cop. I don’t know what this guy was trying to prove but we just saluted him letting him know he’s #1 in our book. Maybe having a ranger out on the course to patrol the inpatient players would be a good idea. Not every day but at least when you know that people are playing 6 and a half hour rounds. We were going to call the pro shop but we only had 3 holes left.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re very sorry for the frustration caused by the frost delay and the pace of play during your round. Weather-related delays can be challenging, but we understand how important timely communication is and are actively working to improve how we notify players when delays occur.
We’re also disappointed to hear about the interaction you experienced on the course. That type of behavior is not acceptable, and your feedback about having additional ranger presence—especially on high-delay days—is appreciated and will be taken seriously.
We value your visit and hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide the enjoyable round you expected.
Recommend
EarlyTeeTime Friday, with heavy rains from the prior day. Cart Path Only conditions, and the fairways and greens were excellent.
Thank you for playing with us and for the great feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the course and found the fairways and greens in excellent shape, even after the heavy rain. Cart Path Only days help us protect the course so it stays in great condition all season. We appreciate you coming out for an early tee time and hope to see you again soon!
Enjoyed the whole course this round
I have played the front nine previously, but never a full round. It is the end of March and the course shape is pristine. Even the traps were perfectly maintained. Me and my father in law were able to get all 18 holes in yesterday for under 30$ each. I imagine the prices will get higher as the season gets deeper, but that was the best 30$ I have spent as far back as I can remember.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re thrilled you and your father-in-law were able to get out for all 18 and enjoy the course in early-season condition. Our maintenance team works hard to have the course and bunkers in great shape as soon as the weather allows, so we love hearing that it showed. We appreciate you spending your round with us and hope to see you back again soon as the season gets rolling!
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your experience didn’t meet expectations. If you’d like to share more details, we’d love the opportunity to understand what went wrong and how we can improve. Please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Fun to play
Very fair course layout, several/many difficult greens, great course to walk. Play it several times a year and enjoy the course, the staff is super friendly, if you haven’t played here, book a tee time.
Thank you for the great review! We’re glad to hear you enjoy walking and playing Mt. Prospect, and that our staff helps make your visits enjoyable. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you back on the course again soon!
One of the best public courses in Illinois.
MPGC is my goto, local course.
Excellent practice facilities, wonderful staff & very fairly priced drinks, snacks & excellent clubhouse food.
Some complain about how difficult the greens are, but hey, just makes other courses' putting seem way easier after in my book- so a plus for me!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad to be your go-to course and that you enjoy our facilities, staff, and clubhouse offerings. You’re right—the greens at Mt. Prospect definitely keep things interesting, and we love hearing that you see it as a fun challenge. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you back out on the course soon!
Thank you for the 4-star review! We’re glad you enjoyed your round at Mt. Prospect Golf Club and appreciate your feedback. We hope to see you back out on the course soon!
Slow play
It's unfortunate that the course allows everyone to play at such a slow pace. Granted, it's a difficult course with trouble lurking to suck up errant shots. However, a round of golf in a cart should not take 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Otherwise, Interesting course with challenging greens.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the layout and challenge of the course, though we understand your frustration with the pace of play. It’s something we continually monitor and work to improve so everyone can enjoy their round. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back for another round soon.
