In decent shape for March
It was nice to get another bonus March round in. OV's greens haven't been rolled or cut just yet.....but were playable. Range was open off mats. No food/beverage service (yet) with beverages available in pro shop. With the extreme winds the course was still very playable. I bet many courses in the area yesterday if their greens had been rolled/cut it would have been downright unplayable. OV has a fun routing and interesting holes. The 13th always gets my goat. See my other reviews of this course for tips and pertinent in season info.
Nice December Weather
The people complaining about conditions of the greens in the reviews below should get a grip. Playing in late November what the heck do you expect???? Two weeks prior they were really good and the grounds crew had no choice but to get them ready for winter. Orchard Valley can get away with charging full freight of 46/56 this late in the season because of extreme demand.....and golfers like you that play more than a few times a year know full well that conditions at all Chicago land courses are unpredictable and sketchy at best this late in the silly season! The tee sheet has been overflowing and booked solid at OV due to Covid all season! Just like other courses. so to those reviewers trashing this place please go elsewhere and you'll find the same deal.....packed tee sheets and higher than average fall rates. In the springtime Orchard Valley will green up again and the greens will again be smooth and perhaps then you'll have a clue of what you are missing. I highly recommend OV any time of the year....play can back up so try to play it early or earlier in the day. A fun well designed golf course with good facilities.
Greens are horrible
Charging 56 with greens this bad is a disgrace to Chicagoland golf. This course use to be sweet now it’s a dog track
Get it Together!!!!
This course has had it's ups and downs ever since Billy Casper Golf took over. After not playing here in two-years due to extremely slow play, I came back in October of 2020, found the pace of play to be very good and conditions "good", except for the very rough greens understandable with recent aeration and charged accordingly, $34.00.
Gave it one more shot Friday November 20 - worst greens I've played on in years. Aeration from over a month ago still not healed (no watering!). Area around the greens was covered with old branches and sticks, grass around the greens looked liked it had not been mowed since October.
Cost was $40 for very sub-par conditions, no value and just another bad golfing experience at this very nice laid out track - too bad they cannot get their stuff together!!
Favorite Course in West Suburbs
Orchard Valley is one of my favorite courses in Chicago. A very challenging layout but very fair.
Course was in great shapes, however greens had been aerated recently.
For $66, we felt the course was gouging considering the greens were aerated and leaves had coverers several of the greens.
There was no notice that any aeration had been done. I firmly believe that if yo are going to aerate please charge reasonable greens fee. This is something that would affect my decision to comeback.
Very Fun Track
Played this course for the first time in a few years. I forgot how fun this course is. In very nice condition (had recently aerated the greens, but they were already 80% recovered and had minimal impact). Played in just over 3 hours. Ill definitely be back before the snow flies!
Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad to hear you enjoy our course. We look forward to having you back soon.
Great layout
I really like the layout of this course. Course Mgmt is a definite must. Earlier this week, the greens were aerated so not ideal. Enjoy.

It’s a pretty challenging course blighted by non golfers with no class
First time playing evening golf and it was brutally slow off the tee. That’s going to hinder my ability to really review this course. We waited no less than 10 minutes on each tee box to tee off because the group in front of us had no golf etiquette. For 88 dollars for 18 and a cart and to barely be able to play 9 in a 2 and a half hour period just frustrated us.
The course itself was fun and in ok shape. Tee boxes were wet and slanted and most greens had no ball mark repairs. It’s like no one does what’s right.
Thank you for your review. We apologize for the slow pace of play. If you'd like to discuss your concerns further, please feel free to reach out to us at info@orchardvalleygolf.com.
Amazing Course for Public Play
Shocked at how amazing the conditions continue to be even this late into the season. Wishing and missing the golf boards. This course has everything a private posh country club offers with a public twist. The staff was awesome and very helpful. Still one of the best public courses in Illinois!
Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We are so glad to hear you enjoy our course and wonderful staff. We look forward to having you back in the future.
OV in wonderful condition
Given the amount of play Orchard Valley receives (it's always pretty packed) the course is in tremendous shape *except traps but all courses get a pass on that aspect this season...... Kudos to the grounds crew. Greens are the best they've been in several years in my humble opinion. Pace of play was great (a nice surprise) given we teed off at 230pm and both felt we might not get in the round prior to darkness as sometimes rounds here are 5 hours plus. We got around in slightly over 4 hours. OV is a challenging/interesting track with lot's of water to fend off. Range and excellent brewski selections that are well priced. Nice clubhouse patio. Thanks for enjoyable day.....and look forward to returning before the end of the season. Highly recommended and a good value.
