About
Bartlett Hills Golf Club has been a favorite Chicagoland golf destination since it first opened in 1929. To keep the layout up to modern standards, it has undergone many changes over the years but it still has the same classic character. At 6,463 yards from the back tees, this traditional layout might not be long but it still provides a fair test. Rather than distance, the golf course demands smart play and accurate shot placement thanks to narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky doglegs. You might not have many chances to use your driver but you'll definitely get some iron practice. There isn't too much trouble off of the tees at Bartlett Hills G.C. But greenside you'll be faced with nearly 30 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards come into play on seven holes, which include some forced carries.

Cart was a rip off
Cart was $20 per person! Now I understand why everyone was walking. I’ve walked this course before and it’s rough with all the hills.

Bad online service
The booking says cart included for the price but then the reservation says course is walking only and they up charge you for a cart. Very misleading.

Precision and putting
For a low to mid handicapper leave your driver in the bag and hit hybrids. The course plays shorter for many holes because of the hills. During the late summer fall it can be very dry, so the ball rolls. Bailing below the hole is often the preferred to coming out of pot bunkers with hard sand or either chipping or putting down a severe slope.
1. The green is tricky. If you have to bail, bail short left. The green slopes severely back to front in the back and particularly in the front. A chip from the side could roll off the green.
2. Play conservatively and get your iron in the fairway. If in the rough play for the front and try to get up and down. Some of the bunkers have nearly no sand and are much lower than the green. Challenging to get up and down from. The green has a terrace and you want to be on the right terrace and below the hole. Even with a tee shot in the fairway if you miss you want to be in the short grass in front of the hole.
3. A longer par 3 with fluffy sand in the left trap. A tiered green where you want to be on the correct tier.
4. Play a couple hybrids. The fairway is narrow with trees on both sides. The green is tiered and fast. Miss in front of the green allows for an up and down birdie.
5. Shorter par 3. Fast tiered green where you want to be below the hole. Missing left should not be an option.
6. Could use a 3w here but because of the slope a hybrid works. If you miss miss short. The green is again fast and tiered. Bunkers are again very hard and low.
7. Fairly open fairway and relatively flat green.
8. Trees to the right are trouble (red stakes). There are trees on the left but still leaves you in play. A well struck hybrid will cover the gully. May want to consider a 3w. Green is relatively flat.
9. OB right, trees left. Tiered green. A little longer than 8. Traps hard. If you bail, bail short left in front of the green.
10. Much more room to drive than most of the holes. Recommend laying up. The green is tiered, and bunkers have hard sand. Trees around green.
11. Left is jail. Bunker in front is deep and sand hard. Green tiered. Missing low left best.
12. OB left. Suggest using much less than a driver. Any club you feel confident that will go straight. Even an iron is preferred to OB. The fairway slopes down so you will get roll. Miss short. The green is severely sloped and fast. Missing long leaves a difficult putt!
13. A fair amount of driving room. Though red stakes left for a severely miss hit shot, generally, missing left better than right. Right has trees and a bunker with a tree in front of it. Green is tiered and fast. Want to be below the hole..
14. The fairway slopes down so your tee shot will roll. Don’t need driver. Right is jail. If the flag is tucked back and you can’t see it, ok to bail left short. The green slopes severely downhill on the front side towards the woods.
15. A shorter tee shot with a flat lie may be better than a longer one with an uphill lie. Green is somewhat tiered. Better to bail short if in trouble or unsure.
16. Fairway slopes right off tee so a tee shot in the fairway will wind up on the right side. Hit a longer club to lay up close to the green. Laying up too far back puts a large tree into play on the lay up.
17. More driving room than most of the holes. Green flatter than most. If you bail lower right.
18. Elevation knocks 5 yards off distance. Be on the correct tier of this large free and below the hole.

Great course maintained well
Played this course first time, different from other Chicagoland courses, this course has good elevation on the fairway and approach to the green. Most of holes, I can see the pin from tee shot, no hidden trap or water hazard. I love this course, definitely come back soon

Rate of play
We had to wait on every shat. Shot. Saw no ranger. I do understand, from the club’s standpoint, it was a beautiful day in November & every one wanted to get in on last round. A little course management would have helped however. The corse was in good shape & overall my wife & I enjoyed ourselves.
