White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

First timer .loved the course will play again but only critique is the 5 1/2 hr round because of slow play ahead was an issue to be exact significant back up at the turn around
Waited 25 minutes to start the back nine as there was a significant backup and no Marshall in site maybe in the future the cart GPS will illuminate pace of play either ahead or behind..
Overall loved the play anyways and will return
Thank you for overall I would say was a good round
Well maintained greens and fairways
Second time playing this course. Once with my godson and once with wife. Played from the senior tees and wife from ladies. We both had a solid and challenging round. Golf staff was super as were the greens and fairways.
The good & the bad
Great course, have always enjoyed playing here and try to get out a few times a year at WDR. The other day I noticed they put some very stringent limitations on the carts for areas where they would operate. One hole I sliced into the rough on the opposite side of the cart path. While driving to my ball the cart stopped by the first cut and directed me to drive back towards the cart path. On another hole I pulled off the path to let the beverage cart pass and while I still had two wheels on the path I received another warning to get back on the path. The final shot was when I went to drive the cart to my car to drop off the clubs after being out on the course for four hours on a ninety degree day and discovered carts were not allowed in the parking lot.
lack of information
At first we were told to start tee off on the 10th
hole due to the outing. Okay...
At the turn, staff told us to play back nine again or get the rain check( what rain ??? it was perfect weather for golf). I am sure there is reason for it but they should have inform us ahead and kindly.. For $82.00 green fees during weekdays isn't cheap to treated like this. I live 5 minutes away from the course and it was my favorite course for many years. I will think twice about booking this course over others from now on.
Worth a Hot Deal
Great course all around. Regular price for this course is high but worth the Hot Deal price.
Great course
The only comment I’d like to make is that the GPS should be programmed to give the reminder of “Please repair your divot” when the golfer approaches the green, not after leaving the green.
Really enjoyable round. Fairways and greens were excellent. A couple quirky holes (9 and 18), but overall solid layout.
One of the better public courses
White Deer is a fun golf course. Greens are always in good shape and roll at a good pace. The few times I’ve played it this year there is always a pace of play issue. They send cart messages to speed up play on the screens but I’ve never seen a human managing the pace of play which would help. Also, paying $100 to play and charging extra for a warm up bucket feels greedy to me.
Cart paths only after the 1st rainfall in suburbs for weeks. The course was not wet enough that it should have been 90 degrees and 5+ hours of waiting sucks!!
Luckily we got a hot deal. Terrible course management
Nice set up
White deer run has a nice set up. Seems most of the hlles are spread out with some distance between green and tee. Fun course, can be set up to be very challenging plus the various tees.
Nice course. Annoying cart settings and overfilled bunkers make it less fun.
Very nice layout and the fairways and greens were in great shape.
The bunkers had FAR too much sand in them. Just brutal. There must have been a sale on sand.
The golf carts were super annoying with constant pop up ads & beeping, Geo fencing with no signs to warn you and speed governing in unnecessary places.
Carts paths are bumpy and in bad shape.
I really liked the routing, variety and conditions. The golf cart issues might keep me from playing there again. .
