Calumet Country Club
Back up on tee time of about 20 minutes. The course was in poor condition, Sand traps not maiintained, big leaf problem. Bridges over creeks looked unsafe. What a shame to see this course once a jewel now a pit!
Calumet Country Club
For the first time playing since it opened to the public, the course was in pretty good shape, the greens and around the greens were terrific, challenging and fair. The fairways were great shape and I really enjoyed the course layout.
Only downside the scorecard was no where accurate to the hole yardage and dimensions, and also the tee box information was not very well detailed with signage almost in hidden places.
Uploaded is a picture of the 10th green looking back at the sun and clubhouse, my putt for par in the foreground.
Very Enjoyable Round
Played with 3 other players. 3rd time we've played here. The course was in good shape. Fairways were in great shape for end of season. Several bunkers were not playable due to grass growing in them. Also 2-3 greens were damaged. Overall, we had a good time and finished in just over 4 hours.
Nice Course but too Expensive
Nice course but $80 was not worth it. Cog is less and nicer. But fun round. I would play it again if in the $50 range.
Solid Overall Course
A little above average compared to most of the courses I’ve played in the Chicago area of the same price. Layout is good but navigation marking is lacking. Might have been the weather when I played but never felt rushed.
Better than expected
Honestly I do not understand some of the previous reviews. The staff was very friendly. The course was in good condition. The complaints about the bunkers were unwarranted. Sure the bunkers could be a little bit cleaner but not as many weeds as mentioned. The positive about the bunkers is that they had very good sand in them. More than most courses I play. This includes the Sanctuary in New Lenox and Cog Hill 1,2 & 3. If you want a tough layout, play this course. The mention about the noise, well your playing next to an expressway. Get over it. Hope it stays open. Plan to play many rounds there next year.
Good Value great layout
Some issues with some greens. Shortage of carts, but impressed with layout and staff. Worth the trip.
A little noisy
Really hidden gem off highway a bit noisy but value for your money course layout really nice too bad not many people know about this course
Hidden Gem
This is a great course with gentle hills. The greens and fairways are is great shape, bunkers need some work. I hope more people come to play here, as I hope they stay open. I played 18 holes in two hours!
Hit and Miss
I played Calumet Country Club on September 16th. It has been two years since I’ve played here last, and I have to say there were some improvements to the course and some regression. Let me first say, I love this course and I can only imagine what Calumet was like in its “hey day”. The greens were very nice and rolled true except for number nine. Last time I played here it was number 14 green that was in bad shape. That green now is perfect. There was other two disappointments that I also found. Unfortunately, we were told the range was closed so it could be cut, but I never saw anyone cutting the range while I was there, so we didn’t get a chance to warm up. The biggest disappointment was the shape of nearly half the bunkers. They were raked; but nearly half of them had weed patches and small tree seedlings growing out them. The rest of the course was in great shape. You always hear rumors that this will be the last year this course will be open, which would be a great shame. I will be back to play here as long as they are open.
