Ravisloe Country Club

Course was in great condition, and the greens were rolling (but that wasnt bad). Staff was beyond friendly, and this is an "old school country club" layout. Great to get back to play it. We will be making another visit.

Was supposed to play today, but the course was soaked because of heavy rain. The course called me to inform me that the course was very wet. They said they would contact Golf Now to refund my prepaid tee time. I was surprised that they called to save me a trip to the course.

Nice course, holes felt a little repetitive. Not much variety, but the facilities were in great shape and the staff was very friendly

Absolutely great course set up by Donald Ross and it’s in beautiful shape. Greens are perfect and the bunkers punish you- that’s what Ross wanted for us.

A lot of praise should be heaped onto ownership for coming in, saving the course and opening it to the public. If you like Donald Ross, Ravisloe is pretty fantastic. Greens are fun and full of tough reads, bunkers will test you. You are forced to miss in the correct spots. I average 3 rounds a month at Rav - and recently the course was in the best shape possible. Greens were rock hard and fast - everyone in the group talked about how much fun they were having.

Unfortunately I am not sure what the long term plan is for Ravisloe. All over the course there are new trees being planted, sometimes literally under already existing trees such as behind the green on 13. Eventually these trees are going to kill grass and it seems like no one is taking that into consideration. It appears green expansions to really put into play the major greenside dropoffs etc. are not in the cards. And the only news the course seems to put out about improvements are related to the new simulator and carpets to improve weddings.

Look - Ravisloe doesn't have the budget to be Beverly - but I wish ownership would see how courses like Beverly and Kenosha CC renovated their Ross designs, because if Ravisloe took a similar approach it would be one of the best public courses around. It would be nice to see Ravisloe want to set its self up as a true destination Public course, instead of being content with being what it is.

I play Ravisloe around a dozen times each year. Love the accessibility off I294. Love the Donald Ross design and (for the most part) lack of housing visible from the course.

This is not a place to go for a leisurely round (thank goodness!). I'm not saying that everyone who plays here is a single digit by any means, but most players here like to play a quick round.

My complaints -

1.the maintenance needs a little more TLC. Most tee boxes are pretty chewed up and it's only the beginning of the year

2. cut the greens a little closer to allow the natural break. They have great contour, but you can't tell when they're hairy

3. for the players - fix your ball marks, please. Take care of where you play!

All other Ross course that I have played are impeccable, perfectly maintained. This is a bit older, tired , but in good shape with many obvious Ross signature design touches.

We will definitely return.

1:45 minute Frost Delay. Staff did a great job starting with a phone call the day before altering of a possible delay.! On arrival staff kept my group informed and did a great job getting us off and checking during the round. Course in good shape for early in the season.

Really appreciate the customer service.

Greens have interesting topography but obviously overplayed and hard to find a true roll. Rough needs to be cut. Free side locations covered in weeds and bare patches. No money being given to maintenance budget and clearly showing.

Wonderful track, fair and challenges your shot making abilities.. Greens were linoleum, in a good way - 13 Stimpmeter per the guys at he club drop. Bunkers at all key spots and they are deep. For a short course it plays long as there is so much that can go wrong around and on the greens. Outstanding value at $38 w/cart early in season (late April weekday). Had a great time and will be back.

Outside of the group in front of us, everything was real nice . They finished three holes behind the group in front of them. That's 1 hour of wasted time. What ever happened to rangers that actually move play along. Seems to be a lost art. They should have been made to skip a hole since they were way behind.

Played the Ravisloe course with 3 friends. Not the first time we've played there. The course was in excellent condition. We had a great time except for 1 hole, #3! The hole placement was unplayable! We all laughed as we picked up after 3 putting the green an no closer to the hole as the first putt! Will definitely look to return.
