Ravisloe Country Club

Love the layout. Very traditional. Good fairways. Good greens. Good bunkers. The rough was a little long but that might be because of the rain. Overall a nice challenging golf course.

With social distancing precautions in place, I felt perfectly safe walking the course.

It rained really hard the night before we played I called Ravisloe to inquire the Course condition before driving 45 minutes each way. The course said there were one or two holes with standing water when in reality there were 18 holes with substantial standing water on the fairways or rough. I’d love to play that classic course when a snorkel and flippers weren’t needed.

These guys really get it right. Obviously would have liked normal conditions but these guys leave little to complain about!

Incredible Ross course. Bunkering to create optical illusions is brilliant. Greens in great condition and of course fantastic design. Very strong recommend.

This is one of my favorite courses in the Chicagoland Area, a Donald Ross course. Generous fairways, large undulating, tricky greens, deep bunkers and mature trees. Definitely a challenging course. Staff are spot on courteous and friendly. Outdoor bar at the clubhouse overlooks the 18th green. Our group plays here a couple times each year, and they have also hosted a recent GC AM Tour Event.

Definitely a round I look forward to each time.

Love this course ! Great layout , the course gets better every time I come out, the management is making improvements continuously.

If you can get online thru their website and book a discounted green fee, all the more better.

Everyone who works at the course are friendly

The course is only 6300 yards from the tips, but the true challenge is finding the small greens. Not only are the greens small, but very undulating and surrounded by some very deep, but well maintained bunkers. You don't need to be a long baller to enjoy this course so long as you're accurate.

This former private golf course went public and the course has never looked or played better. This course is one of the best public courses available for golfers of any level. From the easy, straight forward par 3 sixth, at 135 yards to the monster 500 yard plus 12th hole, there are challenges for all levels of golfers. The small but fairly pure putting greens, and exacting pin placements enhance the pleasure of the round of golf. The course is easy to access by car or even train from downtown Chicago.It has always been a favorite course of mine.

Enjoyable round. Course in good condition for time of year. Recent aeration of fairways and greens made conditions a bit slower. Most of course had leaves pretty well cleaned up on fairways and greens. Look forward to playing again in warmer weather.

Came out here and played on a day off. The course was in fairly good shape despite having aerated greens 2+ weeks ago. Course overall is tightly lined with trees but allows for you to spray the ball and still be in-play. The greens are small and undulated. Bunkering and mounding constantly keep you on your toes and is great to keep your short game sharp. Would love to play these greens in peak condition. Definitely worth a trip if you are considering!

Played Ravisloe GC for the first time in a couple seasons. Why so much time away? Simply put: cost. Distance not a factor for me - in the past I have been more than willing to drive 45 mins from the near north suburbs to play this Donald Ross gem with small greens, generous fairways and beautiful clubhouse and range. Fall course conditions were great, especially the greens. But for the last couple years, even after noon or 1pm, weekend rates with a cart are just not competitive ($60+); I don’t even bother looking in the morning ($76+). Who actually pays that and can play there every week?

We got a “fall deal” for $52 riding starting at 1pm. Practically a steal at Ravisloe, but north shore muni courses that stack up well charge $35-$40 including cart this time of year.

Love everything about this course including the routing, greens, staff, food and amenities. They’d see us more if the prices were slightly more down to earth.

16 players, no real hiccups. Marshall's were cool. Winter rates make this course a great value.

Ravisloe is a great private course that has been opened to the public. The course is worth a play or two. It has a great deal of character with small some small greens that can be difficult to putt depending on pin placement. Most holes are guarded by somewhat deep bunkers that require soft hands and skill to come out of and save a stroke. The price was more reasonable in October. In the summer the fee can be as high as $80. If affordable to you I would say a must play depending on your budget. Watching GolfNow helps with getting a better rate.

Great course, only missing 5 star due to wetness (recent weather) and slow pace.
