Gleaneagles White - 28 Sept 2020
Course was in great shape compared to a lot of other local courses after a tough summer drought. Price was fair too, and it was nice to be able to get a beer and sit outside after the round.
Good course
Good course and fast greens. Played in four hours and 20 minutes
Worst golf experience all around everything was garbage
Greens need attention
The practice green was smooth and fast. Not so much on the course. Very bumpy! You could watch a slow putt "wobble" its way toward the hole.
One tee box was particularly bad. There was no place to stand where you weren't in divots.
This course is very playable
Hadn’t played Gleneagles Red or White for a few years. This year I’ve played both and enjoyed both rounds a lot and felt at home again.
Maintenance needed
The course needs some upkeep to make it look visually satisfying. I played the white course and the it doesn’t stand up to courses 1 & 3 at cog hill which is close by. Same price but easier play with worse conditions. I’m not saying I did not enjoy playing some holes. Have some long par 3’s to challenge your long iron shots. Very straight course
Good & well maintained course
Very well maintained fairways & greens. Played a very enjoyable round.
Reluctantly Recommend
After playing the Red course we went on to play a back 18 on the White Course in the afternoon. The White Course is hands down better course at Gleneagles and thus gets a lot more play. The routing is more interesting, varied with a lot more land movement than the flat straight boringness of the Red 18. Issue on the white is the pace of pace is always slow as a turtle. 3 some in front of us took over 25 minutes to play the Par 5 13th....and the back nine turned into the usual 2.5 hour wait around mess. Decently maintained (a little more so than Red Course) however the traps I saw were hard pan just like the Red course ....and some greens here are getting really small in size.....and they should put time and effort into restoring green sizes. Tired old gas carts. Halfway house after 6 and 9. White course has several interesting old school green sites thus my recommendation. 3.5 stars trending down to a 3.....anymore than that you play with blinders on. This is should be a solid $35 course at most wkdays and maybe at most $50 on wkend. $56 prior to noon on weekdays....will you walk off this course feeling you got a good value? The $37 senior rate felt a "tad" on the heavy side given the overall conditions & pace of play.
It was a good day to be on the Golf Course
I have played This course in the past both red and white. I think the course is usually in good shape. I do recommend this course to other golfers looking to play. I would suggest playing during the week its usually more cheaper then on the weekend. This is on my list of courses I like to play.
