Not worth the money
The course doesnt drain well, so there were a lot of puddles around the whole course. Several bunkers were swimming pools. Greens were in great condition, so that was a plus. The golf carts looked like they are 50 years old, with no place for tees or balls. There is not even a beeper when going in reverse. Even complete dry, this course not worth the cost.
Gleneagles a good value and in good shape
Fairways and greens in good condition after all the rain. Pace of play was poor with an affable but slow group in front of us that parked their carts IN FRONT of the greens on at least 12 holes. No Marshall to complain to on a full course. No mobile refreshments on the course. Water jugs were filled with lukewarm bad tasting water on our first 90 degree day. Still had fun!
Good round!
Love playing at Gleneagles, course was in good shape would give it five stars except for the bunkers.
Seen just one bunker with sand the rest was hard dirt.
Glen eagles
Course was over booked round took forever and didn’t even get to finish. Was unhappy with how it turned out
Sadly, GlenEagles is past its prime & not worth the cheap price.
I’ve played here for years and have to say this course is nothing like it once was. It’s gone severely downhill due to lack of money put into the course and poor overall maintenance.
The Ash Borer took a TON of trees off this course in the past 5 years; which I understand the course couldn’t control, but it’s changed the difficulty. 15 years ago this course was a great value - country club course conditions due to the heavy tree lined fairways & small quick greens that were tough to hold.
Now, there’s dirt in most bunkers and the course is severely unkempt. Tee boxes have tons of unfixed divots and are pocked with weeds - tough to find a flat stance for tee shots on many holes. The fairways which were another great part of this course are now hairy, also with weeds. Rough is hit or miss, with some heavy hay areas due to the recent heavy rains. Golf Carts are absolute junk, most club straps will not stay put - so beware your golf bag falling off the back if you hit bumps, etc.
Pace of play is spotty as well. Lots of older players and younger hackers alike out here (mark your balls). Rangers really serve no purpose.
There’s lots of beat up areas, cart path areas as well as dead pan areas riddled throughout the course. It’s sad this course is no where close to what it was back in the day.
There’s no cart girl on the courses and only limited offerings at the half way house - hot dog/chips/drinks. Food in clubhouse is decent but nothing to rave about.
I’d suggest taking a pass on GlenEagles. There’s plenty of good, week maintained courses in the area for around the same price.
Awful Course Conditions + Pace of Play
The course was in one of the worst conditions I’ve ever played. Not only was the course in horrible condition, they overloaded the tee times on a day when it was already scheduled for an event, so the pace of play was terrible.
Worst conditions I've ever seen
We have had a lot of rain, but I had played two other local courses each of the two preceding days, and they were generally fine. Course obviously neglected. Rough 6-18 inches deep throughout course - no exaggeration - see my attached pic. Complained to owner after my round. Response was "Sorry, we have a business to run". I play there every week. Not returning after that treatment,
Great day
Got the $18 w/cart rate on GolfNow. Great deal! Course was a little wet from the rain, but only in select spots. Greens were fantastic as always. Gave the course a 'somewhat diffucult' difficulty rating instead of moderate because the greens are very undulating. Not too many straight putts. Great course.
Friendly course
Nice course. Not too much sand; no water. Fair amount of trees. Greens mostly flat. Well kept.
Pleasant Round of Golf
The course played in four hours, so play was steady. The white tees allow bogie golfers to reach the greens in regulation, though the challenge is smaller greens and plenty of break on the putts.
The course had some ground under repair, the recent rains have produced sections of wet rough.
The halfway house was not open, and water coolers had not been put out, so will bring our own going forward.
Great shape
Challenging small fairways and greens. Excellent shape especially in late October.
Simple course every pin is pretty much straight out from the tee. Nice wide fairways, loved how challenging the greens were on the white course. For what the course lacked in layout the greens really challenged the longer putts. Only complaint is the better markings at the tee boxes so you know for sure the yardage. Also some 150 sticks would be awesome. I’m not going to complain too much at $36 a round. Worth your money and time if you haven’t played here. Good luck and keep’em straight.
