Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
About
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont is conveniently situated just a half hour outside downtown Chicago. Pete Dye and his son P.B. collaborated to design the course, making it the only Dye design in the Chicago area. A well thought-out strategy will be greatly rewarded on this challenging layout and bad shots made without any thought will be severely punished. This is definitely not a golf course where you can just grip it and rip it. The fairways are fairly straight and forgiving, but most of the approach shots play to tricky elevated greens. There are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's par 3s have a reputation for being particularly challenging. But depending on how windy it is, the final hole might present the most formidable challenge.

Great course but rain
Rain soaked fairways made play not fulfilling! On top of it the waiting time is very bad because of so many players in the July 4 holiday week.
Bad condition
Ruff is high .. don’t hit your ball 2 feet off the fairway, never going to find it. Water in most of the traps. I’ve played here many times , worst shape in a long time.
Very Expensive
Not only the green fees, but course drinks and food were quite heady in price. It's time to reel it back.
Solid track
Great round on a busy Sunday with great pace for Chicago public golf (little over 4 hours). Challenging holes and the greens were rolling great. Thought it was a little odd they were still not using bunker rakes, but overall only complaint. Great value in the afternoon for the course and range balls included.
Course and Staff
Course was in very good condition and the staff
was excellent inside and outside.Enjoy myself every time I play golf there
Love this course
This is an excellent course and facility. Staff is friendly and pace was phenomenal. My 7th time at this track in the last 18 months.
My only complaint is the condition of the course. It’s largely in great shape, but several tee boxes are in rough shape and there are a number of water logged areas on a variety of holes. There are a few hazard areas that haven’t been fixed in the last year (the huge hole behind the 15th green). The tee boxes are the biggest issue. Several are not level and have weeds growing directly out of them.
All in all I will continue to hit the course because it’s so much fun, I just wish a few things were improved.
For $99 and a Dye Course... You'd think they could actually maintain the bunkers...
So... it is a solid course. Pete and PB Dye completed this in Lemont, IL. Have played Ruffled 10+ times. I really enjoy the course, but not sure if I'll be back. Green Fee was $99 and the bunkers were absolutely atrocious. Honestly is a shame to see the bunkers the way they were. Staff is good. Range is good. Pace of play was fine (roughly 4.5 hours). But... bunkers were terrible. Really surprises me. If they are going to charge $99 and the bunkers are the way they are... save your money. Go play Cantigny in Wheaton or Prairie Landing in West Chicago. Hopefully someone sees this and they get the bunkers taken care of! I'd recommend the course just because it's a Dye Course. That is probably it...
Solid Pete Dye course in Chicagoland
Practice for your round at TPC Sawgrass, 17th hole here on the 11th hole.
Tee boxes and driving range turf were a bit beat up but otherwise the course was in great shape! Greens looked like they were punched but they rolled very well. Ranger came around telling us to hurry up but the group behind was clearly a hole and a half behind us. So at least they’re attempting to keep up pace of place unlike other courses in the area.
Overall while the course is not incredibly long it can be very challenging especially if you’re not playing from the proper tees for your game.
Staff and food in the bar/grill and bev carts were fantastic. Looking forward to returning!
Fan of RF, play suffered a little
I have played Ruffled Feathers once before, and I found the course in good condition, but the pace of play was super slow. The first time I saw a ranger was on the 17th hole. It would have helped if a ranger could have helped improve the pace as it was super frustrating that it took so long. Also, the score cards have no detail about the course and there are no markings on the cart or other which give you indication about each hole which was frustrating. I would have expected more after paying a $90 round. Everyone was nice, no problem with the staff, but the value suffered base on the basics of the actual play.
