Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
About
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont is conveniently situated just a half hour outside downtown Chicago. Pete Dye and his son P.B. collaborated to design the course, making it the only Dye design in the Chicago area. A well thought-out strategy will be greatly rewarded on this challenging layout and bad shots made without any thought will be severely punished. This is definitely not a golf course where you can just grip it and rip it. The fairways are fairly straight and forgiving, but most of the approach shots play to tricky elevated greens. There are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's par 3s have a reputation for being particularly challenging. But depending on how windy it is, the final hole might present the most formidable challenge.

A great summer track
I like this course, played this summer and loved it. Great shape then. Played on 11/8/2012 and thought the greens and fairways were pretty beat up. I understand the staff is thin and I blame for other golfers for not repairing thier marks, divots, etc...
For the money we paid it was still 5 stars. This is a must play course in the summer, especially for P. Dye fans and has a good grill.
Tangent- My favorite course in the Carribean is a Dye course in Jamaica- The White Witch in the coastal Blue Mountains.
Green status was good.
Green status are well-maintained golf course, was good.
Much better options in surrounding area
Played on Sunday November 4th. Course was in average condition but it was early November. Greens were in good shape and rolled very true. We payed $45 w/cart so at that price it was a good deal. Would never pay more than that to play here. A lot of the holes are right on top of each other and the course is cut right through a subdivision. It took just over 5 hours to play. Unacceptable at any time of the year yet alone in November.
Great shotmakers layout late fall round so it was 47 degrees course in great shape for season and pace was fast
Really fun course with scoring opportunities and punishing miscues
pete dye design very tough
had a great nov 2 weather day 50 degrees minimal wind
Good course if you can get for right price.
Good deal for the right price. Challenging course...Well maintained.
challenging course with nice layout
I have played Ruffled feathers twice now and enjoy the layout as it is very challenging with a nice variety of both short and long holes. The greens are extremely challenging as they have numerous slopes and are sized appropriately to the distance of the hole. The fist time I played ruffled the course conditions were firm and fast of which I love as most courses in the Chicago area are severely over watered of which makes for a miserable day pulling your ball out of the mud. My second round at Ruffled was extremely muddy due to the weather of which was understandable. This would be fine if I was to get an honest answer of course conditions before setting a tee time. I was told the course was in pristine conditions? Not the case as the bunkers were not even playable, it was cart paths only because of standing water, and the greens were in horrible condition. The course should have essentially been closed as it was unplayable. I am hoping this was was just a one time incident. I didn't expect it to be perfect as we did get a little bit of rain, but don't tell me its perfect when the course is barely playable.
Great course and price was to good to pass up
Great course was a great value and as always ruffled feathers makes you play better.
Great challenging holes. Nice greens. Fair and sporty play even with the wind.
Nice layout. The course gave us options on how to attack a hole. Nice lies when you hit the fairways. Greens were true and fair with nice movement on how to read a putt. Would definitely return.
Affordable & challenging
The layout of the course has always been interesting & challenging. All their facility's offer great quality and make for very pleasurable golf/dining experience.
Ruffled Feathers continues to offer a truly country club experience at a public price.
It is one of my favorite places to play, in an area, blessed with an abundance of quality golf courses.
if you looking for some fast Greens come here
goood course for the buck, nice big fairways. a must go to
Course is almost comparable to Dubs @ Cog Hill
Beautiful, well maintained challenging course.
After playing Dubs and Ruffeled back to back my friend and I agreed on Ruffeled as a great course and value.

A good challenge
We enjoyed playing Ruffled Feathers while we were attending the Ryder Cup.
The course is a great challenge with a fair amount of water and wisely designed holes.
The 2nd, 4th, 13th and 16th holes were our favorites.
Excellent Course Excellent Value
Played Ruffled Feathers as a single. Was the first one out in the morning. Staff very friendly. No maintenance got in my way (they were out there). fairways and greens in excellent condition. Tee boxes a bit chewed up is my only bad grade here. If you have the chance to play it, do it.
Quirky and fun
Treacherous par 3s and some very quirky 5 pars. A really fun track and the only Dye course I know of in the Chicago area. My only complaint is that the sand in the bunkers needs some work.
The course is not well kept. Weeds on the green and Tee box.
The starter was so rude I called into the clubhouse to complain.
Enjoyed very much. Great Pete Dye Course
Great Pete Dye Course. Staff very friendly. Felt welcome from the time we got to the course.
Ruffled Feathers not what it used to be
I have played here once a year for the last 6 years. The place used to be a great course with spot on staff. The course is still in good shape and has its Pete Dye quirks, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. When a course is charging what they are charging there should be someone taking your bag, wiping down your clubs, and things like that.
A tough Course.
It was a great value because of reduced rate. I am not sure I would pay the regular rate because while the course was very tough especially the par 3's it was not the hardest I have played. While the course was in good shape after the rough dry summer we had, it was not in pristine shape. I do not like playing around houses and prefer courses in the wild like Forest Preserve National.
Fun risk-reward course
This is a fun Pete Dye course: 18 unique holes, risk-reward, thoughtfully placed bunkers, water and other hazards... Some areas were a little rough and it was not quite as well maintained as I expected (more on the front). This is the first time I played it, but will be back for sure. Good rate is a must in my book, I would not pay full price for the course.
