Unique
Very interesting and big course. Long and super hilly. One of its shortcomings is that there are no 150 markers or really any distance markers on the course. The paths are not well marked either so my partner and I got turned around and ended up playing 18 when we meant to play 12 (I think). Overall it was a challenging unwise with lots of elevation changes in a beautiful natural setting.
Great course - challenging, but enjoyable! They need to repave their cart paths ++ get sand traps to drain better!
Great time. Fun and challenging course
Great place. I really enjoyed myself. I'll say the course got the better of me. So if you're looking for an challenging and interesting place to play this is it. Quite a nice surprise.
Rough was rough
Very easy to lose your ball in the roughs, but then very easy to find pother peoples ball's while looking for yyours.
The fairways needed to be cut. A little better signage on some holes.
Hello, tumbalig. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Big Run Golf Club.
Slow Play
Have been playing Big Run since the eighties. Big difference between then and now. Several of the tee boxes are in need of extensive repair; as are some of the fairways, and greens. Numerous pot holes pockmark the cart path. There are no sand containers to fill in divots on the carts. Pace of play was extremely show at 5 1/2 hours.
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any negative experience you had while playing at Big Run. We are aware of the issues with the tee boxes, fairways, greens, cart paths, and pace of play and are working to address these concerns. Thank you for bringing them to our attention.

Big Run Review
Staff was friendly.
No driving range but has a few nets to hit into.
The putting green was a good representation of what you found on the course.
The course was very hilly. Greens were a little slower than what I am used to but was probably good with all the undulation on the them. Pretty challenging course overall. I would play it again
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you found our staff friendly and enjoyed the challenging nature of our course. We apologize if the greens were slower than what you are used to, but we hope to see you again soon.
Pace of play
The course is beautiful and it’s the third time I’ve played it. Unfortunately, it’s the third time it took over six hours to play a round of golf. I don’t agree with the way they stack the tee times so close together. I get it that you’re trying to make money but for $75, you shouldn’t be waiting 20 minutes in between every shot.
Thank you for your review and for your continued support of our course. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the pace of play and the close stacking of tee times. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our service in the future.
Should be sold for real estate
Pace of play was horrendous. 5 hour round and there wasn’t a single ranger out there to check on things. Pins were in shockingly stupid locations. Sand traps were bare. Fairways were in horrible shape and were long enough to be the rough. Accessibility was absent. “Carts in rough only” made zero sense when the fairways were practically the rough. And some holes had string to prevent carts from accessing the other side. What stupid idea was that? Sell this course.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the pace of play, condition of the course, and accessibility issues. We apologize for any frustration caused and thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention.

So unique!
Big Run is a pleasure to play and is one of the most unique courses in Chicagoland. There are meaningful elevation changes on 9 of the 18 holes that make you really think about your shots. There are a number of "you don't see holes like this anymore" moments and it makes for a memorable round. Conditioning could be better but it is not problematic.
