Mt Prospect Golf Club

Based on a review of this golf course on thefriedegg.com, my son and I decided to play Mt. Prospect Golf Club. We were not disappointed in our decision! We were quite fortunate to be paired with two players very familiar with the course as they have annual memberships - their insights provided us with a most enjoyable round of golf. The golf course was dramatically transformed through a redesign by Dave Esler, who incorporated many architectural principles of C. B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor including many of the famed green complexes found at Chicago Golf Club - Redan, Biarritz, Double Plateau and Punchbowl. Each hole is different from each other and requires a unique strategy from tee to green. The green complexes are amazing and with large undulations and subtle breaks even when they appear to be level, successful putting requires local knowledge and most likely multiple rounds. Many thanks to Jerry and Bobby for an enjoyable round and drink afterwards. I'm looking forward to returning to play Mt. Prospect Golf Club again in the near future.

Loved this course! It is an outstanding shape. Only problem is the greens are ridiculously challenging. Way over the top in my opinion.

I am a huge fan of classical designed golf courses! I had done a lot of research prior to playing Mt Prospect, and I am so happy that not only did the course meet my expectations, but blew them away!!!

We played during the current COVID modified restrictions and a nagging persistent rain. But with everything against us, it was an amazing experience. The course was in amazing condition considering all the rain that had fallen. The greens rolled true and quick, but I recommend plenty of practice considering the severe undulations. The course is relatively flat, but still offers enough contour to not get boring. The course layout is challenging and requires shot placement which is a throw-back to classic courses.

I have played numerous top 100 courses across the country, and would choose to tee it up at Mt Prospect daily if I lived in the area.

Course is in great shape, but a little buggy. Tight layout and complex greens make it critical to be accurate in order to have any chance at scoring well.

This is my son’s and my favorite local course. Greens are tuff but fair . It is just a beautiful course .it was a Great Day for us .

This is a redesigned course with very interesting holes. Some greens are difficult to reach but rewarding when accomplished. The greens are big and fast but putt true with many undulations. The fairways are reasonably wide and in great condition. Overall it’s a joy to play. A country club feel for a park district.

This was the first time I’ve played this course and it did not disappoint. Since I heard of the redesign a couple years ago, I’ve always wanted to give it a shot. The layout was excellent and the greens were all different. They had many different breaks to them with a lot of raised greens. They were in great shape and rolled really nice. Clubhouse was also a nice feature with the re build. Highly recommend this course. Challenging but fair.

This is an awesome golf course. The layout is fun and the greens are interesting. Great par 5s and par 3s. Would play here more if I lived closer. People who live in Mt. prospect are so lucky to have this place.

Decided to play last Thursday. It was a beautiful day. Play was a little slow but that is not unusual for the course. It was in fairly good shape. The greens were challenging as they always are. I ended up shooting my best round ever there, including 2 birdies. Met some nice golfers, had a great time. Looking forward to my next round there.

Birthday outing Great layout very friendly deafly will visit again next year

This is a 1920’s course with a rehab that makes it very fair and fun. Some people say the mult-tiered greens are tricked up. But it makes things a challenge for lower handicappers. Conditions are good and lush for as much play as they get. Still has some of the country club feel. No weak holes but par 5’s are short.

Starter acts militant, which is good if they push everyone equally. But they seem reluctant to punish slow groups.

Greens can be very fast and challenging. You will get a putt that is impossible, but why did you hit it there?

Bunkers are a little thin on sand in spots. But they rake them daily.

You will have memorable shots both good and bad by the end of the round.
