Challenging course, well maintained
MP is a gem of a muni. Price is usually reasonable for the quality of the course. Greens are hard and fast with challenging (but not punishing) breaks. Tighter fairways and more OB compared to some of the other muni courses in the NW suburbs. Course length and hole layout is fairly traditional. A few unique holes, but nothing that will leave you scratching your head as a first time player. Course will challenge high handicap players to break 100, mid handicap players to break 90, and low handicap players to break 80, etc. but wont leave you frustrated or snapping clubs. Highly recommend if you are looking for a muni course in the NW burbs.

Nice golf course not far from Chicago
Great golf course well kept. Greens are very fast and tough. Staff was very attentive. Amenities like food great options.

Great track...tough crowd
Really enjoyed the challenge of the layout and the green structures. Every hole could hit 2-3 different clubs off the tee. Course was completely backed up. Got behind 5 walkers that never thought about letting us play through (2some), seemed like folks were hopping around the whole course. Will be back but hope it will be better experience. Played 14 holes in 4 hours, didn't finish.
Its all about the greens!
Course was in great shape, very green as it should be in April, fairways were cut and recently aerated, rough was challenging, there were some areas under repair and some that needed repair, over all the course was slightly above average. The greens however are some of the toughest greens anywhere, fast fast fast, undulating to the extreme, peaks and valleys like you've never seen, by far the hardest greens I've ever putted.

Course is in great shape for this time of the year some green side bunkers need some sand in them, though outside of that great!

Great value for a well-maintained and challenging course
Course condition was impressive for early spring and the greens were some of the quickest and most challenging I've played at a public course near the city. Most holes offer some breathing room on your driver shots but will challenge your approach shots, short game, and putting skills. (It really ate me alive as a high-handicap, anyway.) The bunkers were also fairly workable, at least by Chicago standards.
The practice facilities (2 putting greens, a chipping/sand area, and a driving range) were great, the staff was ultra helpful, clean porta-potties were available every few holes, and the round pace was pretty reasonable for a weekend. The only things I'd add are more non-alcoholic beverage options (cold drinks with caffeine that aren't sodas) and maybe additional water-refill stations on the course. I'll definitely be back!

Snail's pace, 3hr front 9
Starter and ranger need to remind people of ready golf, especially with mixed tees. Our 4some had a 3 hr front 9. Absolutely no reason for that! There was a 2 hole gap in front of us. Ridiculous!
I'm sorry to hear that your round at Mt. Prospect didn’t meet your expectations. We had a 2.5-hour frost delay this morning, which unfortunately backed up the entire tee sheet and caused slower play throughout the day.
Even with 10-minute tee time intervals, our pro shop staff monitoring pace, and a ranger on the course, the delay created some tough conditions to manage. That said, it doesn’t excuse the fact that there were two open holes in front of the group ahead of you. We did have a ranger out there, and we’ll be following up with our team to make sure they’re keeping a closer eye on those situations moving forward.
We completely understand how frustrating that experience can be and appreciate your patience. We hope you'll consider giving us another shot—we’d love the opportunity to provide a much better experience next time.

Didn't Know of the Course Condition
There was no information on Golf Now that water mains were being worked on and the course was modified. We played behind a foursome who were oblivious of their pace of play. This caused for a slow round. The course ranger should be more aware of the pace of play. Rounds should not take 4-1/2 hours.
