the overall condition of golf course was good .
They maintained course very well. But one thing is not good, that is , it is not easy to find each hole. When we finish
one hall ,we had a difficulties to fine next hall because there was no clear dirction mark.
Good start to the year, needs some change though
This is the 3rd time playing here in the last 3 years and the only negative I would say is that almost every green is the same with a downhill/uphill putt. Few are flat and you can make the reads, but every hole slopes from back to front and it gets old.
However, the layout does vary and has some challenging holes. Given the time of the year, the course was in good shape.
It is a good track
I played the course early in the year and the grass had not yet grown in and the cleanup was not yet finished. I found the greens tricky with a lot of undulation front to back-stay under the hole if possible. The course plays long from the blue tees, especially on a cool spring day-most will find the course challenging enough from the white tees. Would love to come back later in the year when the course is grown in, however, the course will probably be real crowded at the popular tee times.
Mashies and Spoons
This course feels like it was built when people were playing mashie and spoons. It is TIGHT! From the tips you rarely need a driver so pull it and put the extra wedge in the bag so you can feel like Phil. 3 wood of the tee on the long ones will suffice. Old Orchard needs to cut the rough down. If you go off into the trees... which you will do... good luck finding your ball. If you lost it off the fairway treat it like a lateral hazard. If you don't you'll definitely be boning up on your stroke and distance rule for lost balls and playing 5.5 hour round. CUT THE ROUGH OOCC!
Strike this Course from the List
This is another course that needs to be written-off. My girlfriend and I played this course, and we never finished. After 6 hours (yes, that's right....6 hours!!!!), we finally decided to quit on hole 14. It was unbearably slow. There we no rangers to be seen, and people were hitting all over the place, making the place an actual shooting range. Singles were sporadically jumping holes right in front of us, and a ranger was nowhere to be seen and no one answered when trying to call the club house. The condition was average and the layout was equally unimpressive. Pick a different course. There are better courses out there who charge less and are better maintained and managed.
Course in Great Shape-Alway's Fun
Fall golf, You get what You pay for right? Wrong, Old Orchard keep's the course maintained even in November! The only thing missing were rake's for the bunker's and tee box markers.
good value when on specials.
this course is usually in great shape....but doesn"t take rain very well. very sporty golf course.
