I always seem to gravitate to Centennial for a good location and solid price from Golf Now.... but it's getting harder and harder to justify going back.
Course was in tough shape top to bottom. Greens were very bumpy and not only needed to be cut but had insect holes and dead spots everywhere. The area around the greens was also shaggy and appeared to be forgotten about and nearly every tee box was beat up and rock hard.
Pace of play is always an issue at Centennial as well due to the blind tee boxes all over the place and the bottleneck design.
Picture attached was one of many green areas that looked similar to this.
Bring your balls
Centennial is a pleasure to play and a real challenge. A mixture of tight holes and open ones but each ending with undulating greens. Staff is very friendly and the value is tough to beat in East Tennessee.
Awesome Course!
Greens had just been aerated but were still rolling true. Fairways were in immaculate shape. Course is challenging. There are risk/reward holes, some tight fairways and others are wide open. Layout is great. Green fees were cheaper because of aeration but would still pay normal price.
Good but not great.
good but not great. Course could be great if the greens were maintained.
Needs attention
The course is laid out well, but needs attention. You cannot see the fairway from the #1 tee due to the overgrowth of the trees. Most of the greens are rough. Ball bounces its way to the hole. Overall, I like the course, but was dissappointed after driving 55 minutes to get there.
Course needs attention
Tee boxes were in really bad shape. I could hardly get a tee in the ground. Grass very spotty on tee box. Green rough and bumpy
A beautiful challenge
Centennial is a wonderfully challenging course. My partner and I played the Senior (black) tees as we both drive in the sub 200yd range. This made nearly every hole reachable if we stretched our envelope a bit. Lest you think it easy, there are plenty of challenges that force concentration and planning or trouble awaits. Well maintained course and facilities. We will be back again.
Difficult course for seniors and ladies
There are a few holes that are very difficult for seniors and ladies.
Fairways were in good shape. Some of the greens needed work.
Good Layout, Poor Greens/Tee Boxes
Centennial has a great layout and is challenging for all types of golfers. But I was disappointed that the greens were in such awful shape and the tee boxes were not much better.
Beautiful and challenging
The course is in great shape. This is a beautiful course with challenging holes. Almost all of the greens have some moderate to big breaks in them. Greens are in great shape also. I would strongly recommend this course!
Great experience .
Course was in good condition. Staff was great and made my experience great.
Very fun course. Several challenging holes. Fairly tight in places.
8 AM start, played as 2 some, so we moved pretty fast, course can be slow at times. Fairways & greens in good shape. A few tee boxes need help.
We were told the driving range was closed due to rain but the pro gave a lesson while we were putting on the practice green.
Love the course it is always in great shape and challenging. The staff has let me down on more than one occasion. Awesome course though.
Fun holes
There are some very fun and challenging holes. Hole 1 and 18 make you hit over large ravine. A lot of fun
the course has many blind shots and very challenging greens.
The staff was very friendly; however, when we got there we were informed that we would be late teeing off due to an outing earlier that day. I question why this tee time was available when an outing was taking place which generally runs longer than normal tee times. In addition someone appeared to be wearing metal spikes as the greens were very chewed up around the holes.
Centennial golf course
Booked tee time for 7:16 am wasn't able to hit range balls the man running the pro shop wasn't there until about 7:05 am we got there early just to hit the range that is my only complaint
Great course, average maintenance year round.
It is a fun course to play, but sometimes a little pricey relative to other courses of its caliber. Prices have gone up compared to previous years with out any major changes to the course. I would of rated it higher, but knowing how the course will change in a month makes me rate it a little lower. If they could maintain the conditions of the greens for more then just March, April, and May. June is always an up or down month depending on weather. Usually mid June to early July ground hornets take over the green leaving mounds of sand in every putting line. The fairways get bare and you have a lot of thin lies. The tee boxes are non existent. I know the review sounds real negative, but I know I would want to know the negatives of the course. Given the previously stated the course is better then most during three to four months. I believe the biggest cause of the previous problems is over booking tee times. I give this course a 3/5 only because of a few months out of the year, if not I would give it a 4 for the area.
This course has some challenging holes on the back nine.
Good discount on Golf Now that saved us money on the weekend.
We enjoyed playing the course and plan to re-visit at a later date.
Convenient to north of Knoxville and easy to find.
Beverage cart service reasonable.
Best greens I have played in a while
Centennial was in immaculate condition. The parking lot was packed and yet the pace of play never slowed at all.
Played on a wet Course
Although the course was wet it was not bad. The course is a fun course with many challenges. The staff is always friendly and the condition is not bad. Due to the weather and the time of year the course is well maintained. I would recommend to any golfer.
