Under Repair
I’m sure when it’s in shape this is a nice course but right now they have a lot of bad fairways and greens that need work, so it’s under repair right now so be aware if you go
A good layout but in poor condition.
I like the layout of the course, but the present condition is poor with great sections of the fairways being newly sodded. Which shows they are working on improving the condition.
Pace of play
Great course. Played multiple times before. Pace of play on the back nine was at a snails pace. Left the course before finishing the round.
Best public coarse in Oak Ridge
I've played this coarse many times when I visit family in Oak Ridge. I like this coarse. The coarse is presently in good condition except for a couple of fairways, greens and more than a few tee boxes. I find the coarse to be fairly challenging (I'm a 15 handicap). The greens are fast and challenging. Golfnow has had some good deals for this coarrse.
Who is running the show
As we start playing hole number 1 there is a sign that says don't be a tool use one. Apparently nobody in Oak Ridge can read as we fixed at least 10 pitch marks a piece per each hole. Also the whoever set the tee markers that day must like to play off the dirt. I am a 3 handicap but my companions are not so we played from the green tees this makes the course measure 6100 yards. There was at least three to four tee boxes that need to be closed for several weeks. Move the box up or back but don't make us hit off dirt. Then the pin placements. Oh my goodness the guy who set those has no clue. And finally $32 is way to much for this course right now. It normally is worth that but in the shape it's in it is worth $18. That's right $1 per hole.
Excellent course
Not an overly long course, but a lot of holes need a great tee shot to have any chance to score. Some greens had dead spots, but the course had put the holes away from those spots. There were a lot of spike marks around the hole presumably from people playing that didn't know any better.
beautiful course
Few of the fairways and some tee boxes were in poor conditions.
Hot day in Oak Ridge
Had been a couple of years since I played this course. Was very disappointed at the current course conditions. Greens and tee boxes were in less than acceptable shape. Some were embarrassing! Staff was nice and fairways were decent
Put money back into the course
I really like the setup of the course, but there are a few things I would want to see before I play here again. Please get the greens in shape. Some were okay but overall disappointed in the greens overall. The cups look like they had been in the same spot for a bit to long and some of the greens are eaten up. Get them fixed, I know its not cheap but needs to be done.
Great course...Got a great deal! Very fast greens!!
Had a great time at this course. The conditions were great and the staff was friendly. Everything was clean and pretty well maintained! The greens though...very fast, too fast in my opinion. My friend and I are not pros by any means, but we putt pretty well. Not here! But to be fair, we were warned by the man that gave us our cart to beware of the fast greens! The layout was great though. And getting cheaper rates on golfnow is why we go to more expensive courses. Otherwise, we arent serious enough golfers to pay $35+ per round. Overall I would definatly play here again! They have a driving range and putting green, but we didn't have time to try them out. Looked nice though!
Getting Tough
I've played here many times. However this time the rough has really grown up and the greens were really quick. Be prepared to be challenged. Especially with the recent rain falling into the rough will probably mean a stroke.
Centennial is the one
I have played Centennial a number of times and love the variety of the wholes, It is not an easy course but it is fair. And it requires a little strategy (laying up on a number of holes). The greens are fast, and have some breaks and contours. Some of the greens have pock marks, and un-repaired divots. Overall it is a good challenge of golf and I love the course. You will, too!
fast greens
Greens were fast and rolled true, the course was in nice shape. There are 16 good holes, some doglegs, some with elevation changes, a nice layout...however, #1 is annoying with the small window to hit through on your 2nd shot - a good shot might get lost in the woods. I don't like this hole, it doesn't give you a realistic chance to go for in 2 (sometimes even 3!). #18, with the infamous ditch forces a long 2nd shot carry. Since the drive must be a 5 wood or less, the 2nd shot should not be 170+ to a green protected by severe slopes on all sides. The green should be closer, but the terrain may make that difficult to accomplish.
Nice course. Needs work
I really enjoyed my round at centennial. It's a challenging course. The two suggestions I have are the greens and especially the tee boxes need some attention or at least rotated. The second is do a better job of organizing send off. The first tee was backed up and caused very slow play. It took about 2 1/2 hours for my twosome to finish the front. A lot of potential here with beautiful scenery.
solid round
Most of the course in good shape.. some fairways died from winter.. 2 holes where badly peppered with ball marks. I will play there again. . But not one of my favorites
This course needs a lot of work but could be rally nice
We had played this course a couple yrs. ago and it was a nice course and some what challenging. Last year we were unable to play it. Yesterday we were very disappointed in the condition of both the greens and the condition of the Fairways. They have totally lost some of the fairway and the greens had some fungus, alot of bad ball marks and slick as snot. The slow play made the conditions even worse.
They would have to make some big improvements for us to come back as we drove 1 1/2 hrs to play there.
Centennial
word is your greens have been that way for years FIX THEM the rest of your coarse is awesome. besides the time management. Get a starter and a ranger that have experience. There were 5 carts at 18 when I finished I was third in line.
Poor greens for years
This could be an above-average course but it is poorly maintained - especially the greens which are spotty and marked up. Must be either on a limited budget or staffed with ill-informed personnel.
greens are in bad shape
The course is very unforgiving you hit a drive in the middle of the fairways on many holes and it would end up in the brush on the right side. Greens are in very bad shape alot of unfixed ball marks and there was quite a bit of damage to the greens
course review
course is very challenging but greens had been aerated so they were a little rough. Had a good time though.
