Willow Hill Golf Course

I have been a fan of Willow Hill Golf Course for at least a couple of decades. Lately, the grounds crew has upped its game, so to speak, as the course is usually in excellent condition. It is links style, though the punitive tall grasses have been removed from the rough areas, or they are kept mowed to a reasonable height. I suspect that its history as a landfill keeps some golfers away. But it has a spectacular view of the Chicago skyline, and often, if you can get there in mid-morning, the play is very fast. It also has a driving range (unusual for a 9-hole course), and a new dome, though I haven't stopped in there yet.

Tough enough course with some wind and beautiful views. Great range and practice area to tune up before the round. Kitchen onsite was not open when I was there. Would have enjoyed chilling at the end of the round with those great skies and some dinner. Next time as I'll be back.

Greens are in great shape. Play the blue tees to get the full experience, they are fare in terms of hole length. I have also never seen the city skyline like that before. Bring some out of town friends for a quick 9.

Short 9 holes, not difficult course, construction is going on for improvement, at summer time you will enjoy for cool wind and scenery, recommend to play

I had played Willowhill quite a few times over the years, but noticed that before the pandemic the course was rundown and poorly maintained. I decided to try playing the course again after a recent visit to the clubhouse. To my delight, the clubhouse, the surrounding facilities that included the driving range, putting green and instruction visually looked updated. With tee time scheduled, I anxiously looked forward to see if the 9 hole course had been improved.

Much to my delight, the course has been revitalized! The greens were well maintained and challenging. The fairways are defined and the rough has been controlled. The current owners and management have really made an effort to make this a great golf course to play in a true links style! There are quite a few upcoming improvements that I could see as I played the course. Can’t wait to play the course again!

This course is a hidden gem in the Chicagoland area. If you didn't know it was there you wouldn't even realize you're driving past a golf course. It's supposed to emulate a links style golf course and on those super windy days it sure as heck does. Course plays relatively hard for 9 holes but still very playable even for a beginner golfer. Only negative I would have is there seems to constantly be work going on around the course, for example during my round it looked like they were changing up the tee box on hole 7 so it was actually a little confusing trying to figure out where to tee off from. But outside of that I would recommend this course to anyone.

Played this course for the first tine Sunday morning with clouds early and a touch of rain when we played the thrlird hole. Temps in low 60s. It is about 30 mins from my home in the city. Very unique setting above a former trash dump. Once atop the mountain you feel like you're on another planet. Condition was very good with supple fairways and challenging greens in excellent. Great treetop views of surrounding Northbrook. Nice little clubhouse with drinks.

I booked late Friday for Sunday morning... there were many spots open depite a good weather forecast so I was suspect. However, it is a fun course in good shape. We'd play again for sure when heading up north from my home.

My wife plays in a league stating improvements. We played another day and I thought play and course condition had not changed from past, but promise is evident of better times.

Course in excellent condition. Well maintained, especially the roughs for this time of year. Pro Shop personnel always courteous and professional.
