Nice Course, in great condition
I've played this course before. We found it to be in excellent condition for the most part. Of special note to me as a minority, I absolutely felt more comfortable. The pro shop staff personnel, grounds folks, all were very friendly..... The "good old guy" crowd was there, but did not project the "why are you here" air we detected previously.....
Sept 29th Silver Lake round
Course is in best shape ever. Caught up with 2 friendly gentlemen that invite f me to play alomg with them.
well conditioned
Given our lack of rain, this course conditions were excellent: from tee boxes to fairways to greens.
Slow play
Course was in good shape, greens were a little slow for my liking but over all decent. When I Tee'd off on the north course nothing was said to that there was a outing in front of me so the pace was really slow, luckily I hooked up with 2 other singles on the 3rd tee, had a really good time finishing out the 18 with Jim and Steve
Great bang for your buck
Silver Lake is my go-to course for a 4 hour, straightforward round. Grabbed the twilight deal for this course on a weekday while leagues and high school play were going on, and still finished in Time for dinner at the bar.
A few tough pin positions, greens were a little hard to read, but overall a great course for the average-above average golfer. Staff is always friendly and attentive. No beverage cart but always something available at the turn (north and south course).
Highly recommend everyone check this place out
Great on course staff
Course was great, the beverage cart personal are amazing as was the starter.. The starter was very accommodating and moved us to the north course which was less crowded.
great price thru golf now
iits not worth the price (62 with cart). better closer places to play at that price. paid 24 thru a hot deal if could play at the lower price would definitely play at silver lake more often conditions as follows
tee boxes nice except a little lacking on par 3's
fairbays fine could have been cut abit lower
greens pretty quick big size and slopes
bunkers decent better than most courses
overall a pleasant day shot 77 nephew 75
been a while
Used to come here when I first started playing golf 20 years ago and came back to take my dad for his birthday round. It was nice then and still remains nice. The course was in fine shape and greens were rolling nice but not impossible fast. there's some water but overall is an easier course with wide fairways so you can almost always find your ball. I usually shoot low 90s and that's what happened here. 92 and a great round with dad.
Don't let golfers off back nine!
Only one complaint! They let a high school golf team off the back nine right as we were approaching the 9th tee box.
Challenging round
Not really narrow fairways but you have to position the ball because of the placement of trees and doglegs, not to mention the water. Every skill level can enjoy the course and the staff is terrific.
Excellent golf experience
Greens, bunkers and rough kept up very well. Attractive layout.
Great experience!!
Beautiful courses
First time playing this course. I played the south course and it was in real good shape. The fairways where we'll groomed and green, same for the greens. The course had many challenging holes and the greens sloped enough to make putting interesting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are practice greens and a driving range. The halfway snack shop has some good food choices too. Also the beverage cart came by several times. Overall it was a very enjoyable round even though we had to play through some bad weather. I will be going back.
Frustrating round
I played a Saturday afternoon round in the south course. There was no starter, therefore people just started their round in no apparent order. I got a sense that they just stack as many people in the shortest window as possible. This was the slowest round I played in a few years. Throughout my round, I never once saw a ranger monitoring pace of play. Although I paid for a full 18 holes, I quit after nine.
Fun but slow
I've been playing Silver Lake for 25+ years, and it is one of my favorite courses. The fairways are cut just right so that the ball is almost always sitting up, almost like being on tee. My only complaint about the facility is the pace of play. There will be times when there will be a group on the tee in front of you as you arrive and one in the fairway. It happens sometimes at all courses, but the rangers don't do enough to police it. You have to call clubhouse to complain before a ranger will say anything. And don't get me started on outings...they'll book a double shotgun outing and still book tee times later in the day when they KNOW the outing is still going to be on the course. Ask about it before you book a tee time and trust me, stay away if there is an outing that day.
