Front 9
We only played the front 9, but overall very happy with the experience. Staff in the pro shop was very friendly, sandwich at the bar & grill was delicious and fairly priced. The course was in average to above average condition. Playing later in the day; the greens were a bit rough due to prior groups not repairing ball marks. Some bare spots on fairways near the creek that runs throughout the course. Playing the gold tees kept the par 4's to a manageable 350 - 400 yards, as I don't generally exceed 220 off the tee. Will definitely return and look forward to seeing the back 9.
Fine course, Pushy Staff
We played a early morning round, we were held up until the group in front of us was done teeing 2 by the staff. Apparently we were waiting for a staff members son and friend. Me and my buddy walked the course with carts. He's an low 80's golfer, I'm in my 1st year, but playing low 100's. Played 105 that day. Were met by staff at green of 7 and told to pick up pace. Next 2 in 20 minutes. Came out of 9 in 2 h 7 min. Met again at 10 to be told group ahead was too far ahead, meanwhile the two some we were with was taking 2 tee shots at most holes, yet we were constantly being the ones told to hurry up because we were walking. Ended up being told to hurry up 5 times, other two some 0. we were held up by them to tee 1 and from there on out we were the "problem" two some's 3 year old son even met and rode with from 9-11. we didn't care, but were still pegged as the problem. Ended up finishing 2 holes in front of group behind us. All in all i love playing Fox Bend, but the staff was lousy that day. Ended up finishing 2 H 7 M. Course says you should be off in 4 H flat. I get we were a bit late but don't blame us for holding us for the other 2 some, and don't keep telling us to hurry when we are 2 holes ahead of the trailing group.
Worst part of the course is the walk from 9-10. you have to cross the entire parking lot and driving range. Its a bit ridiculous.
Great Hidden Vlaue
The people there were very friendly. The course is in the best shape ever and far exceeds other courses in the area. The course was booked full and pace of play was good. Want a great place to play for the right price, go to Fox Bend.
Perfect shape
Since I've moved to plainfield this course has been my go to right now early morning. Has great golfnow rates in the AM pace has been steady and probably til mid July it's in awesome shape.
Nice Course - Friendly Staff
Got to play on a perfect May day. Course was in good shape considering all the rain in May this year. Greens rolled true and are in great shape. Bunkers well groomed and plenty of sand (had three fried eggs unfortunately).
Good value for the money.
Great Value
Some fairways were wet enough that cart path only should have been required. The greens were in some of the best shape ever.
Course ok problem with GolfNow
Course was in ok condition given heavy rains. Lots of marks on greens. Frustrating when other golfers do not rake bunkers but the bunker sand was better than most at this time of year
My biggest gripe is with golfnow app. They confirmed an 8:05a tee time for 2 of us but course had regular tee times booked at the same time and until 10am. To the fox bend staff's credit, they slotted us in at about 8:00 am in between the regular golfers. This is the 3rd time I have had a golfnow tee time that did not get synched with the course
Fair
Greens were in very good shape for early spring. Sand traps very full with sand, probably too full. Fairways and tee boxes were just fine.
April Golf
Nice course, unfortunately a group cut in front of us on back nine and slowed play- 5 hour round...
Great course when not crowded.
Played the course in late March, on a Friday morning. We got out early enough to play as a twosome, never waited on the guy in front of us. Course was in good shape, greens a little bumpy, but kind of expect it for March. Nice layout, my local public course, usually pretty crowded but on this day it was great. Pretty popular course so Saturday and Sundays are pretty slow and busy, but if you can catch it during the week great course to play.
