Well maintained and good promotion cost
One of the excellent fall course and well maintained course. The fall promotion price is great.
Mint conditions. Grees in perfect, summer or better, condition. Pro shop staff could not be more accomodating. Plenty of space between groups.
What a bargain for money. Noone in front, or back. no pressure. adding to nice path network.
Solid course & layout
This review may be skewed slightly as it was a picture perfect 72 sunny fall day! Course was in great condition, fairways were lush, greens rolled true and fast. Nice variety of holes at Fox Bend. Got paired with 3 and we never were slowed. Played a smooth 4 hour round. Fox Bend is a solid golf course, not the most picturesque layout/course but offers challenge while not beating you up either
A good fair test of golf with a good variety of holes.
The greens were being top-dressed the day we played so that was disappointing. But overall, the course is challenging & was a good variety of holes- tight, open, water but not too much as some courses do.
Traditional up and down fairways with fair hazards you can see!
Fun course to play doesn't beat you up. If you are off line on your drives you may be in another fairway, not a hazard!
Course was in very good shape. They had aerated the greens but understand as it is that time of year.
Made tee time for 5:34pm. Arrived at 5:00pm. {Proshop let us start early and on the back nine as a league had started on the front 1/2 half hour before. We ended up getting all 18 holes in. I like the course and the set up.
Good Challenge - Great Conditions
No houses on any holes!! Love that.
The course was in very good condition, with the exception of a couple of wet sand traps. We started at 6:30AM, so I guess there might have been some sprinkler run-off. Some really challenging holes. We played from the Blue tees and most par 4s were between 410 and 430. Quite a few dog legs. The greens were in good condition, though some of the pin placements made for some white-knuckle putting. Approach shots held on most of the greens. Sufficient water holes. Definitely worth playing. I'll play it again. Note - they aerated the course last night (8/25/2013)
Great Course
Real nice course. Try to play it often when price is right.
normally too expensive for me.
Nice course I just didn't plan to spend 5 1/2 for a round
The course was overbooked or something. It took 5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. The starter would come telling us how he told the players in front of us to keep pace, but there was no where for them to go. I wanted to go into the clubhouse and complain after my round, but I just didn't have the time.
Excellent course
The course is in excellent condition, greens rolling true, enjoyed the pace of play.
This course is not so intense that you are intimidated on shots. But still challenging.
I like this course because it makes you think about your tee shots. Some of the tee shots are blind, so the next time I play here I will have a better idea of course management. There was a big rain right before playing, so tee shots were getting absolutely no roll. Dry conditions would change the course I'm sure. Greens were very healthy and well maintained. Also, had strategic bunker placements. Well thought out layout. Excited to play it again, since I would feel more confident with knowing the course layout. Always helps rather than relying on the course map on the scorecard. Great day of golf at Fox Bend.
Great Staff
Other than a slow playing outing ahead of us, the course and staff were excellent. The weather was hot and staff stopped by each group several times with cold towels and water.
Bring the Bug Spray
Fox Bend is one of my favorite courses............except after 3PM when the gnats come out by the million. Also, for some reason pace of play was VERY SLOW on the 4th of July, I saw a ranger a couple times but things never improved. We finally bagged it after the 13th hole, no way we were going to finish anyway. Usually I love the place, today...not so much.
Enjoyed the course. Fairways in very good shape. Super value.
It was raining the day we played and we still enjoyed the experience. The greens and fairways were in very good shape.
Very public course.
Wasn't a bad course, just gets a lot of play so the conditions aren't the best. Pace was fine. I would not pay full price to play, but its worth a "hot deal" of golfnow.
Decent value course
Nice course, reasonably manitained, but the greens could use a little work.
Typical muny in pretty good shape w/ nice layout
Playing on a weekend morning during an opening in their permanents is great for pace of play. 4:00 - 4:15 max for 18 holes walking is a nice pace. Very easy course to walk too. No need to spend the extra money for a cart. Good deal for residents - only $36 to walk on weekends.
Good time as usual at Fox Bend
I play here regularly and really enjoy the layout. There is a nice variety of holes, with some imagination needed for some of your drives. You just can't swing away with your driver every time.
I joined 3 other guys who were pretty good, and we followed a group of older guys, two who were walking. Still, the pace was good with only 1-3 minute waits at most tee boxes.
There had been some recent heavy rain, and three holes had some standing water to play around.
Fairways were good, but this time the greens were just a little bumpy. Still in overall good condition and I look forward to playing it again a few more times this year.
Well worth the fee
A nice balance between challenging and accommodating. Beautiful old growth trees and well maintained fairways and greens.
poor greens, rude starters and staff
disappointed in the overall shape of the course, staff on the course rude, did not know what they were doing.
