Palatine Hills Golf Course

What a mixed bag this course is. I love the layout and for how dry this March/April has been, the course was in great shape. However...it took nearly 5 hours to play, we were waiting on every single swing the last 14 holes. And the staff (with the exception of one manager in the clubhouse) was a severe case of old man grouchy. Holy cow, the starters and rangers are brutal here.

Mind you, we're a group of handicaps ranging from 4 to 12 that have been playing our whole lives, so while we're not knocking on the door for the tour, we certainly know our way around a golf course. It started with my buddy being hassled on the putting green, we then got hassled on the first tee, and then hassled multiple times by the ranger throughout the round. Again, important to note we were waiting on literally every single shot because of a slow group of 8 (two 4 somes) in front of us that was holding up the entire round.

This course is close to being a really good muni course, but the pace of play and power tripping rangers/starters keep it from living up to its potential. It takes a lot of fun out of the round.

Decent price, fast greens and a pretty forgiving fairway layout. Charged $40 for a single cart which is insane though.

Course played tougher than usual due to 20mph winds. The course was in great shape for this time of year. Very green! Some of the traps had too much sand and no rakes available due to Covid. The greens were a little slow but were a true role. Played in under 4 hours. Could have been under three if we hadn’t gotten slowed up by a foursome of hacks on the back nine. Lol We had a good time for tough wind conditions.

This was my second time playing at Palatine Hills, I brought two of my friends with me, and we had a wonderful time. We are all beginner golfers who really started playing serious this year. Being beginners the course presented some tough challenges for us to overcome but we still had a fantastic time. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day in terms of the weather, especially since it was mid-November. The greens were in pretty good shape, some needing more care, but this was understandable since it is the end of the season. Some of the grounds crew were out working on on the fairways and cutting tree branches down but were mostly respectful to us as we played through. Unfortunately, the clubhouse must have recently closed, since it was open about a month earlier. It must have been closed either due to covid or it being the end of the season. We were unaware of this and were unable to get any water or food at the turn, which was disappointing. Otherwise, the course is beautiful, maintained well, and was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it and will be back to play here next season.

slow play was only complaint, ended up playing the front 9 twice otherwise round would have been over 5hrs. Started as a single and had 2 other singles join me on 5 and 7, by the 9th 2 threesomes on the tee being held up by twosome which they ended still being on the 10th tee when we finished. Otherwise course is in good shape.

great place to play, layout is very good and competitive, very pleased first time there will definitely go again. Staff was friendly as well.

My son and I have been golfing weekly throughout the northwest suburbs and have been paired for foursomes with good golfers until this past weekend. My son and were paired with a golfing couple that was extremely RUDE and obnoxiously tempered because we showed up. After yhe first hole they rapidly left for the next hole now my son and I ended up waiting for this couple before teeing off We have never rin into a pair of rude golfers. I just told me so don’t worry not all golfers are like these two. The caveat is my son and I are good good golfers. Personally I am glad they moved because my son and I had a real nice round.
