Joe Louis Golf Club

This course is mainly for beginners. I was maybe expecting a more championship style feel (maybe that was my mistake) considering the length of the course, it definitely disappointed.

To top it off, our Saturday morning round was plagued by slow play (wAiting 5-10 minutes every single shot).

Not bad, fairways had some dirt/dead areas but greens and tee boxes were good.

The tee time are set to close, no one managing the times and no rangers to keep a pace the would for a good flow of play, the course was dry.

The fairways are trashed, burnt out, patchy and basically worse than hitting from the rough. Don’t play here... especially for $38z

Had a 7:30 tee time, had a great round.. very slow though

Couldn’t tee off until an hour after our tee time because they didn’t have enough carts available. Ran out of food AND beer so an employee went to the store bought a case of beer and resold them for $5 per 12oz. can.

This course should be $15 per golfer for 18 holes. $40 for the round per golfer and they couldn’t get anything right. Not a shocker considering it’s in South Chicago.

Had a good time but will never return.

I appreciate the history of this course, and I played it 13 years ago during a visit to Chicago. These days, it's a typical facility managed by Billy Casper Golf -- classic design with horrible playing conditions.

The weather has been dry in Chicago, but the bunkers are an unplayable blend of hard-packed clay & mud. I know the golf business is tough, but this is mismanagement.

Upon arriving to the proshop/food pickup desk, there was no greeting by the staff. I had a prepaid tee time for 18 holes with cart through golfnow, but the young woman at the desk was adamant I had to pay for a cart and that I surely did not sign up for a cart. She refused to listen to me or look at my phone that had the reservation and receipt on it. It was the Most unprofessional experience I’ve had at a golf course. She finally looked at my confirmation and said you’re all set, without any direction on how to obtain a cart or where to go. The course overall is in horrible condition with narrow holes that are hugging each other. When you need fences between holes you know you’re at an awful course. The fairways and rough are the same length without any change in length. Balls are constantly being sprayed onto the hole you’re playing by neighboring golfers. The greens have divots all over and are in poor condition too. Overall, I’d never play here again even if it was free. Horrible experience
