Would not reccomend
Course was in bad condition ....traps had no sand just hardpan.
The greens were terrible with little or no grass , many burned out .
What could have been
The layout of the course is that of a championship design. However, it looks like they are not making enough money to keep the bunkers weeds and overall course maintained. I would have loved to have played here when they first opened. Must have been gorgeous.
Did not get to play because no one was there to check us in
Had a 6:45 tee time and we showed up at 6:35 with people waiting to get in the club house that had a 6:00 tee time. We waited until 7 and left because no one was there at that time and we had a hard stop. This was a first for me.
Needs a lot of work!
I used to play this course all the time about 10 years ago and it was fantastic!
I played this holiday weekend with my wife and it was horrible!
The grass was long in the rough and the fairways were pretty beat up too! Not a lot of sand in the bunkers and goose crap all over the place!
I got a hot deal to play this course and tried to get through all the set backs mentioned above.
I won’t be heading back there any time soon- Hot deal or not!
I guess there’s new management at Midlane.
If you play there anytime soon, you’re definitely in for a long day!
Recommending but this track is not for me
Midlane is in decent shape. Greens were rolling nicely and some good fairways. Traps are complete hit and more miss...and need new sand. Some tee boxes pretty chewed up tough to find a level area especially on the par 3's. Nice practice area grass range. With Golfvisions taking over the management shower/locker room is no longer available. Carts are no longer allowed in the parking lot. Average beverage prices and there was a nurse out on the course. NO WATER on course so provision up on hot days. The carts do have removable coolers to take into the bar which is a nice touch. No GPS so bring a garmin or laser...250/200/150/100 usually marked by stones in the fairway...that's it.
Midlane has water to carry and fend with all over the place - the landing areas are generally fair but after a while it just gets old. Thought I was playing the same par 4 over and over again. All three of the par 5's have water/sand to go over on your 3rd shot. All 4 of the Par 3's are pretty much the same distance. Traps front greens or are well positioned fronting part. Greens have some slope but none of them got me overly excited in regards their creativity. Areas with flood damage from last season which other reviewers noted. Lots of geese and droppings in several areas mainly on the front nine.
From the whites 6159/132 it's plenty of challenge. A number of tee shots play slightly uphill with less roll out - Midlane reminded me of Florida courses with no alligators - almost flat as a pancake. While it's a "pretty" routing it will become a mosquito haven swamp later this season.
We had a Memorial day weekend 11am Sat tee time and the place was virtually empty. We got around in 4 hours. Now I know why....it's a once a year course at best....downgrading well over a star because of the sameness challenge of every hole. You could probably play this place with 6 or 7 clubs. Thinking about it that's about all I used.
New owners
I met the new Operations Manager, Austin. Seems like a really good guy. The previous head Pro, Mike Chappel is no longer there.
Course was in good shape for the winter we have had. Greens were excellent. This course is a gem. Lots of water, but beautiful and challenging. Enjoy your round. Be sure,to replace divot marks on greens and hurry up to keep pace of play moving. Looking forward to see what new owners will be doing to clubhouse, course, etc.
Still needs some recovery work.
Had a great day for Oct. 21st and played with some nice guys. The coarse still has quite a few bad spots from this years flooding problem but was playable. Greens are in great shape.
the course is in terrible shape
the front nine must have been debated by the heavy rains we experienced early in the summer. the fairways and tough r have mud on the other hand the greens were fine if it looks like this in Oct how bad has it been all summer. course should disclose this in their advertising. I had a hot deal for 27 dollars and that was top much wasted my sunday
Nice course, BUT!
Nice course, BUT when I called to check to see if they might be aerating they didn't mention the course is still experiencing severe water damage from a couple of months ago. 2 holes were roped off to make way for re-seeding. They should have mentioned this. There also were several other holes under stress.
very nice
3 holes temp do to floods but they have in very good shape excellent staff
Under repair - It happens
Remains fun and challenging course for all handicaps. Holes 6 & 7 under repair because of flooding, but still playable, modified to par three, and driveable par 4 for 7th..OK!
Greens great as always
Rough Shape
The front nine is still a mess from the heavy rain in June. We got a great price, but anybody who has paid full price to play with the poor conditions of the front nine deserves a refund.
Cool Track
Midlane is a bit of a hike but well worth it. Great holes shooting over water, some tough bunker play, a few doglegs in for good measure. Fair but challenging course. Reason for not 5 start is a few holes have suffered some because of the rains.. Whites at 6100 yds. Well worth the $39. Cheers!
Several Temporary Holes
Before I booked my tee time, I read some reviews from July 2017 (right after heavy rain) saying that a few holes were totally under water. Since I was playing in September and it has been relatively dry, I called the course to find out it's condition. The guy I spoke with in the pro shop told me the course was back in the same shape that it was before the July storms. But when I arrived, 4 holes were temporary, shortened holes, with insufficient yardage markers. It felt a bit like a bait and switch.
Everything else about my experience was positive. The "permanent" holes were in great shape and the greens were in nice shape. Nice pace of play. The staff was very friendly,.
Excellent value, awesome layout and perfect greens!
Staff is very friendly and the layout of the course provides ample challenge for golfers of all levels. The greens are very smooth and were running very true. I'll be returning yet again as I've now played the course a handful of times. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in the Chicagoland area - about 50 minutes from downtown Chicago.
Best greens & course for your money
I've been playing Midlane for few years now. Thr course was in immaculate condition and the best greens around. The greens were smooth as glass and running 11 to 12 every time I've played it. Unfortunately midlane had terrible luck and the rain storm few weeks ago damaged 6 & 7th hole. Even with these damage, they worked hard to get the course to playing condition! I don't understand the bad reviews from some of the reviews! They fore warn everyone about the condition, and for them to leave a bad review is pretty unfair! Mike the head pro is working deligently to get the damaged holes repaired for play. Let's come out and support Midlane, it will be spectacular again!
