Challenging and fun layout
I really like the challenge of this course. It’s fair but tough to score.as low as you think you should. Lots of unique holes to make it very fun to play.
Great Comeback @ Midlane
Following huge floods of 2017, Midlane Golf Course has rebounded extremely well! There are some spots that you can tell the course had been damaged, but it certainly did not ruin our game at all. GREAT JOB Midlane staff!!
Lastly, Midlane's Customer Service was spectacular. All of it - from the golf shop to the beverage cart. They all went out of their way to make certain we have an enjoyable day. They all treated us like we were family and that they truly appreciated our being there. Go ahead, give it a chance. You won't be disappointed!
Not good!
Shocking! Can't believe how bad this once beautiful golf course has fallen apart. The greens are absolutely worn out and not even worth putting on. Can't play from the sand because it's like concrete. Just had to pick my ball up the couple times I landed in there. Goose poop all over the place, fairways and greens. Also, I have never seen so many divot holes on the greens at any golf course in my life!! Oh and can you please take a little time out of what must be a busy schedule and fill up the ball washers as all of them were empty! Can't recommend this course to anyone until they get out there and fix the problems even if the price was almost free. Customer service was just as bad, what a shame Midlane!
Beautiful course
Well maintained and challenging course beautiful layout I will definitely be coming back staff is very nice as well
Not what it used to be.
I have been playing at Midlane since the late 1990's and it's condition has really deteriorated. The fairways used to be lush and both the greens and sand traps were well manicured. This is no longer the case.
The maintenance of this course has really slipped and there was no grass seed available in either the carts or on tee boxes. Furthermore, there was no water available on the course.
While the course has a great layout, I will not play it again until the reviews of this course substantially improve.
Midlane is a must-play!
Played my first round back at Midlane since the historic flooding in 2017. Course is mostly recovered from last year's flooding despite the recent rains. Course was in great condition minus the usual summer stress and recent weather challenges. Facility has new carts which makes for an enjoyable round. Looking forward to seeing what the new management company does to continue to improve the course given the overall improvement since last season. I can honestly recommend Midlane as a must play golf course!
Midlane has gone DOWNHILL
This used to be a really great/fun course.
New management (Golf Visions) has take over the course this year...and it shows.
Dandelions in the fairways?
Poorly maintained tees, bunkers, fairways & greens?
Dead Ash Trees everywhere (dead for years)?
Cart paths falling apart?
No drinking water on the course at all?
Almost no merchandise in the Pro Shop?
Very unfortunate how Midlane has gone downhill.
Used to be a fun place, not now.
Nice round, nice service, soggy course
The course is a bit out of the way for me but I had been interested to try it for awhile. Not surprisingly it was pretty empty for a mid-week, mid-day round. The very small staff was nice and amenities seemed ok. I caught up with another single after a few holes and he know the course well which helped a lot. The layout is very nice although a bit on the short side. I was disappointed that the carts did not have GPS and finding yardages was not easy. The real downside was that they whole course was quite soggy and the front 9 was barely even playable. There had been quite a bit of rain in the past week but was dry the days before my round but it seems that drainage there is quite a problem. I would play again under drier conditions but not sure I would make the journey unless I was already in the area.
Would not reccomend
Course was in bad condition ....traps had no sand just hardpan.
The greens were terrible with little or no grass , many burned out .
What could have been
The layout of the course is that of a championship design. However, it looks like they are not making enough money to keep the bunkers weeds and overall course maintained. I would have loved to have played here when they first opened. Must have been gorgeous.
Did not get to play because no one was there to check us in
Had a 6:45 tee time and we showed up at 6:35 with people waiting to get in the club house that had a 6:00 tee time. We waited until 7 and left because no one was there at that time and we had a hard stop. This was a first for me.
Needs a lot of work!
I used to play this course all the time about 10 years ago and it was fantastic!
I played this holiday weekend with my wife and it was horrible!
The grass was long in the rough and the fairways were pretty beat up too! Not a lot of sand in the bunkers and goose crap all over the place!
I got a hot deal to play this course and tried to get through all the set backs mentioned above.
I won’t be heading back there any time soon- Hot deal or not!
I guess there’s new management at Midlane.
If you play there anytime soon, you’re definitely in for a long day!
Recommending but this track is not for me
Midlane is in decent shape. Greens were rolling nicely and some good fairways. Traps are complete hit and more miss...and need new sand. Some tee boxes pretty chewed up tough to find a level area especially on the par 3's. Nice practice area grass range. With Golfvisions taking over the management shower/locker room is no longer available. Carts are no longer allowed in the parking lot. Average beverage prices and there was a nurse out on the course. NO WATER on course so provision up on hot days. The carts do have removable coolers to take into the bar which is a nice touch. No GPS so bring a garmin or laser...250/200/150/100 usually marked by stones in the fairway...that's it.
Midlane has water to carry and fend with all over the place - the landing areas are generally fair but after a while it just gets old. Thought I was playing the same par 4 over and over again. All three of the par 5's have water/sand to go over on your 3rd shot. All 4 of the Par 3's are pretty much the same distance. Traps front greens or are well positioned fronting part. Greens have some slope but none of them got me overly excited in regards their creativity. Areas with flood damage from last season which other reviewers noted. Lots of geese and droppings in several areas mainly on the front nine.
From the whites 6159/132 it's plenty of challenge. A number of tee shots play slightly uphill with less roll out - Midlane reminded me of Florida courses with no alligators - almost flat as a pancake. While it's a "pretty" routing it will become a mosquito haven swamp later this season.
We had a Memorial day weekend 11am Sat tee time and the place was virtually empty. We got around in 4 hours. Now I know why....it's a once a year course at best....downgrading well over a star because of the sameness challenge of every hole. You could probably play this place with 6 or 7 clubs. Thinking about it that's about all I used.
New owners
I met the new Operations Manager, Austin. Seems like a really good guy. The previous head Pro, Mike Chappel is no longer there.
Course was in good shape for the winter we have had. Greens were excellent. This course is a gem. Lots of water, but beautiful and challenging. Enjoy your round. Be sure,to replace divot marks on greens and hurry up to keep pace of play moving. Looking forward to see what new owners will be doing to clubhouse, course, etc.
Still needs some recovery work.
Had a great day for Oct. 21st and played with some nice guys. The coarse still has quite a few bad spots from this years flooding problem but was playable. Greens are in great shape.
