About
Bonnie Brook Golf Course, known amongst locals as simply "The Brook," is one of the most popular public courses on the North Shore. It has even been ranked as one of the top 50 public golf courses in the Chicagoland area. Designed in 1926 by James Foulis, the course has a classic feel to it with challenges that have withstood the test of time. The layout sprawls across a scenic natural landscape accented with gently rolling hills, tall native grasses, and sparkling lakes. The north branch of the Waukegan River also meanders through part of the golf course. The Bonnie Brook layout offers enough of a challenge for advanced players with narrow, tree-lined fairways and subtly tricky undulations throughout the spacious greens, but it is a round that is player friendly enough for any skill level to enjoy.

Continues to be an affordable favorite
BB is a very fun course, with plenty to challenge a serious golfer but enough forgiveness for most ordinary players. There are some really interesting holes, with sharp doglegs, overhanging trees, and/or elevation changes. The greens have some severe slopes, especially 9 and 18 that run fast from back to front. It’s a park district course, so expect no frills but good conditions, and have fun.
One of my favorites
All of the staff and players are extremely pleasant. The weather and course conditions were excellent especially since it has not rained here in 2 weeks. The course has enough length and slope to keep it challenging. One of my favorite courses in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

Fun layout
Staff is friendly & nice patio & indoor bar/restaurant facilities. Clean washroom and well kept course. Pace of play was too slow and never saw a Marshal to keep slow groups moving. But the fairways are in good condition as are the greens. It's an older course built originally in 1929, so most greens slop back to front. Fun layout that does require shot making. But playable for all levels of golfers.

The Brook truly is Bonnie!
Starts with a great rate to walk on a picture perfect Sunday afternoon in early May. Warmly greeted, as always, by the staff. Whether it is the club house, starter or Bar staff, everyone is always warm and welcoming.
This is a nice track tucked away not far from Lake Michigan. This means that on a good day, you get the benefit of a cooling wind coming in off the lake.
Course was in superb shape. Greens were true and had a consistent speed, somewhere between medium and fast. Fairways, Tee Boxes and hazards all well maintained.

Slow!!
We started before our time and our 3rd as on time. Pace was great then slowed at 5. Then we were 2 tees backed up at 6. And it got even slower after that! We made the turn and some how 6 carts went to the 10th tee in front of us and we asked the starter what the heck was going on! He was young and had no answer. After us complaining the new manager told the 12 to wait till we tee’d off. But it got even slower. They need some fairway bunkers and leave the second cut longer. They are removing so many trees that the difficulty is lessening!!! Just my 2 cents.

Love this course
Front nine is more forgiving and let’s get you in your groove before moving onto a tougher back 9 with a handful of short/tricky par 4’s. The greens are one a true test with a lot of slope. Conditions are always good. Good food in the bar and grill located in the clubhouse. Overall 4.3 out of 5 stars.
