St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Play them both!
St. Andrews ground crew and staff do an excellent job taking care of you and providing a beautiful course to play on. I think its a gem and would recommend this course for any level of golfer out there.
Course in poor condition
I have played St. Andrews many times, it is traditionally one of my favorite courses, but it is currently in poor condition, and I won't be back this season. The tee boxes were horribly chewed up, there were no spots to stand on that weren't divots. 3 times I landed a drive in the fairway only to have to move my ball because the fairway was unplayable (not divot related). The greens were chewed up. This course is not worth the $90 (including cart fee) that I paid for it. Usually it is, right now it isn't.
Always a pleasure the coarse is fun thanks to the ground crew and the superintendent for the hard work great in improvement from the last previous years
Can’t believe they want over $90 now with a cart
This place used to be a good value. $92 with a cart is insane for this course. Pace was over 5 hours for the round because they pack it to the brim. They spent some money to put new screen gps on the carts so I guess that makes them a legit nice course now. Spend $10 more and play somewhere nice. If this course was still under $80 with a cart is insane would give it a better score but not now.
Terrible value
We golf at many courses in the area. You can find an equal or better course for 30% less within 10 miles of Saint Andrews.
St.Andrews....West Chicago
Played this course for 1st time in over 20 years. Glad I did. Course in Excellent condition despite hot weather. Greens are huge. Not much water to have to worry about. Played the St. Andrews course. Indoor bar great but pricey. Also cart cost was pricey.
Good for the money
Early morning walking is a great deal. Would love if they could get rid of the clover. Greens are in great condition.
Pace of play and staff disaster
My dad has two bad knees and is recovering from a broken ankle. Has a handicap placard yet the staff refused to grant him one for the golf course to make it easier on him. Who qualifies if he doesn’t? They were also jerky about it.
Pace of play was awful. They had some group event ahead of our tee time and we teed off 10-15 min late (bad start) and then 9 holes took 2:45 minutes. Absurd. It’s was 92 degrees and we didn’t see a cart girl until after the 9th. You can’t prohibit bringing drinks on the course and then not have adequate cart service. Left course after 11 as it was so slow and we had plans later so knew we would t finish.
Pursued golf now for a credit given the bad experience and was unsuccessful because St Andrew’s lied and said there wasn’t a group outing nor was pace of play slow. What a poorly run establishment.
I’m never playing there again and will tell others of my awful experience to encourage others to boycott
Hidden Gem, Perfect Walker
Greens - great
Pace of Play - normal
Layout- great, perfect walking course
Staff - great convo and info
Value - nicest course I ever played under $40
Amenities - good, the turn shack was not open and cart girls were only out for first couple of holes.
Great course for the money
A lot of beginning players there and they really pack them in, but it's a fun experience and doesn't break the bank.
