St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Good for the money
Early morning walking is a great deal. Would love if they could get rid of the clover. Greens are in great condition.
Pace of play and staff disaster
My dad has two bad knees and is recovering from a broken ankle. Has a handicap placard yet the staff refused to grant him one for the golf course to make it easier on him. Who qualifies if he doesn’t? They were also jerky about it.
Pace of play was awful. They had some group event ahead of our tee time and we teed off 10-15 min late (bad start) and then 9 holes took 2:45 minutes. Absurd. It’s was 92 degrees and we didn’t see a cart girl until after the 9th. You can’t prohibit bringing drinks on the course and then not have adequate cart service. Left course after 11 as it was so slow and we had plans later so knew we would t finish.
Pursued golf now for a credit given the bad experience and was unsuccessful because St Andrew’s lied and said there wasn’t a group outing nor was pace of play slow. What a poorly run establishment.
I’m never playing there again and will tell others of my awful experience to encourage others to boycott
Hidden Gem, Perfect Walker
Greens - great
Pace of Play - normal
Layout- great, perfect walking course
Staff - great convo and info
Value - nicest course I ever played under $40
Amenities - good, the turn shack was not open and cart girls were only out for first couple of holes.
Great course for the money
A lot of beginning players there and they really pack them in, but it's a fun experience and doesn't break the bank.
St. Andrews Golf Course in West Chicago
Can't believe I haven't played this course in almost 20 years. Gave it a lot of stars. It is now on my short list. If I could make any recommendations it would be to replace the water fountains on the course with 5 gallon water jugs. The water coming out of the fountains was very cloudy and I couldn't fill up my tumbler because the spigot wasn't high enough. Also the water came out very cloudy and as hot as it was I didn't touch it. Other than that a great experience.
Nice mature old style course with a great driving range
Found a Hot Deal which isn't what you expect since it does not include a cart which was $19 extra. Course is 100 years old with mature trees, lots of bunkers, and some water holes. Pace of play was a little slow, but overall a fun round on a very hot and humid day. Course was in great condition. They have a fabulous driving range with 2 separate driving areas, a large putting green, and 2 separate chipping greens. Brats in the halfway house were tasty and only $5.50
Good and bad
We haven't played here for many years. Course is in very good shape. I was surprised that the greens were as undulating and very difficult combined with over half of the pin placements near the back of the green. This made for some impossible putts. Two of our golfers are caregivers, one for his mom and one for his son. I found out the day before that they could only play 9 holes. I called the course the day before and she was very good, told me who to ask for and they would make an adjustment. The guy was busy with an outing on the other course and no one else could make a decision. I was told to come in after the round. The guy was there after the round and is the reason for my low value rating. I checked tee times around us and the course was not busy at all, many open slots (there was an outing on the other course and it was also very hot). In the end they gave me a course credit that I will probably never use.
Great Day
Everything was fine, here. Nice course, friendly staff, course was in good condition and it was a great day for golf.
Cart fee
Cart fees should NEVER be $20 and on golf now it says a cart included with green fees but charged for cart at course.
