St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Always a fun/inexpensive place to play
Always a fun/inexpensive place to play. nice condition and we finished in 3.5 hours
Great Day
Course was in great shape and the staff was friendly as always.
Always great
This is one of the best courses around. Even early in the season it it in great shape all around beacuse it drains well. For the money it’s a great value. Even as a single they had no problem just letting me go out there and play. No trying to pair me up which can be a drag as I was trying to work through early season stuff.
Fun course with challenging greens
St. Andrews courses are fun parkland-style courses, that are generally very weather-resistant. Even though it rained heavily the day before, we were still able drive carts throughout. The green complexes are challenging, and constitute the defense of the otherwise fairly benign layouts, making St. Andrews a great place to work off early season rust.. The staff and banquet facilities are very nice, the food is great, and the practice facilities are among the best in all Chicagoland.
All year round
St Andrews Course (#1) was in great shape. Pace of play was off because of morning frost delay. Pace did pick up as per usual. Id recommend this course any time of year. Nicest staff!
Nice pace of play
Course in good shape. Little cool out yesterday but did not have any wait on any hole. Only problem was finding your ball near trees!
Great day at St. Andrews
Forgiving course with a mixture of difficult holes.
Beverage cart came around often
perfect staff
They make you feel like family as soon as you arrive. The counter personnel, starter, ranger as well as the 19th hole staff make you feel welcome and want you to return. We will see you soon
Finishing holes are a challenge
Played this course for the 5th time this year. It was in excellent condition. Only problem I had was that I had made the golfnow reservation for their other course, only to find out at the proshop that the other course was closed for maintenance.
Time to Mow
While this is one of our go-to weekend courses, we've grown a bit weary of a few things. 1)the rough has been consistently too long and yesterday was no exception. We watched a number of golfers spend too much time looking for their balls and this just makes for an unnecessarily long round. 2)yesterday, the fairway grass was also really just too long. 3)pace of play suffers here. The only hole we did not wait on was #1 it was backed up from #2 on. I'll go back, and hopeful feedback like this is taken into consideration by grounds management and rangers.
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your continued business & feedback. We have forwarded your comments to the Superintendent. Also, don't forget, you can always book on our website to avoid the automatic riding fee from GN.
#16
I never complain about pin placement on a muni course considering I'm far from a pro. I am a 11 handicap though and so I normally make it through around keeping proper score. #16 pin placement on Thursday morning was just plain ludicrous and the people cutting the lawn that never play golf should be trained on proper pin placement or just leave it to the head greenskeeper. The part of the green where this flag run literally had the ball rolling back at your feet regardless of the speed of the putt. and there was no bail out. once again I never complain but this one was plain stupid.
Play St.Andrews
My husband and I enjoyed our golf at St. Andrews. We would recommend it to all.
Classic golf course with Medium Speed greens
St. Andrew's is an excellent suburban Chicago facility with two courses. Going out at 6 am the pace of play was excellent. Course is in good shape and greens are decent. Medium speed greens that I personally would like to see a bit faster but in overall great shape. The greens hold well but some are large enough that it's a high focused two putt. Length is average and it does have some trees but isn't too tight. The bar, restaurant, etc. Is best in area. I am only here to golf but the facilities which are excellent should be mentioned. Definitely will be back and recommend!
St. Andrews #1 Course
The staff was very friendly. The pace of play was outstanding for a Sunday 10:47 tee time. We finished in 3 hours &35 minutes. The course was in good shape. The practice putting green was very fast. The Greens on the course, not so much. Had some 3 putts getting fooled by the speed. Would recommend this course.
All good at St. Andrews
All was good at St. Andrews on Saturday...after the rain last week the course was in pretty good shape (cart paths only on course 1...walking only on course 2).
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
