West/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton offers 27 holes of championship golf. The entire course features water on 17 holes and 77 strategically placed bunkers. The course is divided into three nine-hole courses that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The club opened in 1927 but two of the golf courses, South and East, were renovated in 2011, followed by the West nine a year after. The golf courses are all equally challenging but they each have a unique character. The West/East Course starts with the shortest nine but it also has one of the most intimidating water holes, the par-3 seventh, which has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water. With such a challenging variety of courses, it is not hard to imagine why Arrowhead G.C. is considered one of the best municipal golf courses in the Chicago area.

Good course
Good course for the value and Memorial Day weekend.
Very Nice Public Course
Best sand I've hit out of ever on a public course!
Okay but nothing great
Course looks like it could be really nice but the greens were not very good, bare in a lot of spots, very bumpy, and very slow. Overall course was okay, and if it was in a little better condition, especially the greens, course would have been great. Great design and undulation.
Great shape but really cold
Golfing in November in Chicago is going to be cold. I knew that going in. I was surprised at how well maintained Arrowhead was at this time of the year. For $10 for 9 holes w/a cart, I couldn't resist.
However this review is more about arrowhead in general...During the summer this course gets pounded. The park district is proud of this course and charges accordingly and packs them in. It is worth a try if you can go off-peak but otherwise plan on waiting. Slow and expensive is typical of public golf in Chicago but Arrowhead at least provides a beautiful course. I must say one of the rangers rushed us and came up to us to tell us we were 'way out of position' when we were 1/2 a shot back. I think he expected us to be waiting to hit EVERY shot that day. We mentioned it to the club staff and they promptly displayed a 'I don't give a care' attitude. Don't be one minute last or walking up to the first tee when you book your tee time. You will be reminded about how busy the course is and how most people wait on-deck to line up and play. Like I said, I will only go to Arrowhead when I catch it on a steal of a deal and during off-peak hours. Playing during prime time and paying full freight, no thanks. The clubhouse has incredible food and good beer. The wait staff in the clubhouse is totally different than the golf crew. Have fun and enjoy a well maintained course.
The South Course is very enjoyable.
Everyone at the Proshop was super friendly. The Starter was Al, and even though we didn't have to wait until the last minute to tee off, he was funny. The course was in great shape. The Rangers, especially Howard on the South Course, kept the pace of play great and did it with smiles and compliments of ball striking. At the end of the day, this was a great experience.
Great course and great staff-very helpful
Great course and great staff-very helpful. Pristine course conditions and great pace of play.
Amazing greens!
Some friends and I played here a week and a half ago, and were so impressed that we've been back twice since. Whatever nine is available, you will have a beautifully scenic course with awesome greens! Kudos to the greens keeper as they are rolling fantastic! Watch out for the yardage poles in the fairway, as they are color coded to signify if the pin is in the front, middle, or back of the green you are approaching (and not 100, 150 & 200yds) as that can make a bit of a difference... Hit'em straight!
Nice course
Got a $47 deal on golf now----about a 30% discount for a Sunday. Course has 3 nine hole courses. We were scheduled to play the east course after the south. Female ranger noticed the threesome in front of us was holding up my husband and me. When we were finishing our first nine, she checked and found the west course had no one on the first 3 holes, so she sent us there instead. We were able to play faster without the 3 slow guys ahead of us. We appreciated it! You don't have to be a par golfer to play fast and use golf etiquette!
Best course I have played all year
Have played some very nice courses this year but Arrowhead takes the cake. Love it and my buddies that came with were very impressed.
Nice course and very friendly staff.
Pace of play was somewhat slow as one of the nines was closed for maintenance. Course in nice condition and staff very friendly. I enjoyed it and was average value for the money.
Great course for a reasonable price.
My buddy and I have found a new home for 9-hole on a weekend day. Three different 9's are rotated for 9-hole play and each course is well maintained and a challenge for us seniors. A fun place to play at a value price.
Course is in Pristine shape.
Grat challenging course in great shape. My wife and I played 9 holes on the West and loved it. Great price on golfnow!
A very good course and in great shape.
The course has some very tough holes but fair and challenging. I would play here again.
Very green & lush
Pretty course with trees & some water, particularly on the east nine. Good condition & nice sand. Had not played course in 5 years & they have made great improvements.
3 great 9's - well groomed..little pricy for park dist.
3 great 9's with country club quality maintenance. Kind of pricey ( $79 non resident / cart ) for a park district course.
Really great course and would play it regularly if cost was more in line with other comparable in the area. ( $55-$60 )
Hard to beat
Nicely laid out. Very well maintained. Super friendly staff. Even other golfers are friendly and polite. Hard to beat!
Country Club Look & Feel.
The Wheaton Park District's Arrowhead Golf Course has hit the mark in creating a country club feel at a public course. The option of 3 9-hole courses give you a variety of play while keeping the 18 and 9 hole players content. (They dedicate one of the 9 holes just for those interested in playing a shorter game.)
The course is mature and beautifully set among tall Oak Trees. The fairways are well maintained, there is rough, water comes in to play on each course. The new club house has a great out-door patio, full bar with a nice menu as well as an upscale dinning area.
All this "country club fluff" comes with a price. This course's rates reflect the offering. I have golfed here for years. I like the course and enjoy playing it.....about once-a-year. The fancy new club house came along with staff that tends to be "snooty". For a public course, it is high-end. The deal I booked on GOLF.NOW was very good.
If you are looking to impress a client, want to host an outing with really nice venue for a party or banquet afterwords...Arrowhead is the place. Bring your wallet.
Great course!!
Only issue I had was when we finished I realized I was missing a club and when I mentioned it to the guy cleaning out the carts, since the clubs house was closed, he was of no help!
On a good note, I called the following day and the club was turned in!
Great course
Very well maintained. Creative design makes you think before pulling driver every time. Large greens make it easier to hit but often require shot over water on approach. Greens roll nicely with lots of elevation change but not too much break. Challenging but scorable, really enjoy playing here.
great place to play
greens were good shape and fairways were in good shape as well. I like this course a lot just hard to find it for a good price.
