About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Great Course/ Friendly Staff/ Outstanding Pace
Have not played CC in a while so made a time to explore and check it out after a few years. The check in was easy, even during COVID. The starter was very friendly explaining the changes to the course over the last few years. The course was in great shape, despite having so much rain a few weeks back. I heard the course was closed for almost a week due to the heavy rains but you would not know that as it was in great shape, no outstanding water. Greens were fair, not too fast, maybe due to the rain, but held shots from the fairway. Very windy day which made some holes even harder than they already are. I will be back.

Get a ranger
A fun place to play but stuck behind a walking foursome that was apparently playing for $100,000 per hole. After the 2nd hole, our group waited on every shot. A Round there should be completed in under 4 hours. Took 4:45.
PLEASE have someone monitor the pace pf play.

With so many golfers looking to get out, we are working very hard to maintain social distancing while accommodating everyone who visits our course. We are doing everything we can to allow our guests the chance to complete their rounds and finish in a reasonable amount of time. Too slow
The most difficult thing to manage at a course is speed of play. You don't want to be rude to paying customers. However, when speed of play is not enforced, what happens is 20 customers end up having a negative experience. We waited an average of 4 minutes, that's an average, on every tee box and the group behind us came up to our tee box on most holes because two groups ahead of us were slow. It just really impacts your rythem and enjoyment of the round. It was a big negative as we saw nobody trying to help enforce these simple rules.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. One of my favorite Chicago land courses for the price
Really nice and open course. Fairways and in good condition. The course was a little wet due the rain the night before. Cart path only today. But the staff are friendly, the clubhouse is attractive and I would highly recommend this course to others. For the price it is hard to beat this golf course. It was a 30 minute drive for me, but well worth it.

Not worth it
For the price, I thought it wasn't worth it, the course was compact and too many people where playing with slow pace. i was playing single and the people in-front of me refused to let me play through .
the green were not in good conditions. overall, I didnt enjoy my visit and i am not sure why it charges premium.
wont go there again.
