About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Great looking course
First of all, I would like to state that the course is well maintained. My round was off to a slow start, but soon went smoothly. But what concerns me is that this is the second course wihin the last two weeks that tried to cheat me out of a second cart fee, that was included with my resrrvation. Unfortunately, this is appearing to become a pattern of doing business. If I didn't have a screenshot of my reservation, they would have charged me $20 for a cart rental fee. By the way, they did not apologize for their error/scam.

Enjoyable experience
Enjoyed the course very much. Cart path only with some wet areas. Enjoyable overall with the rough playing fair. Look forward to next time.

Course is still in need of some repairs
I have always liked this course. The layout is compact but there are many long and challenging holes. However, currently the ravages of a wet spring are still being felt. Some of the fairways have large areas of dirt still existing. It will be a while before it grows in.

Pace of Play is a Problem
The course is in excellent shape and is challenging. The only drawback is the lack of rangers which gives some foursomes the latitude to play very slow. It took nearly 5 hours to finish our round because of one problematic group ahead of us.

Great course, Great Value
This course is pretty much spot on. Great conditions- well kept greens, thick sand, challenging layout. Priced very fair. Everything you want in a course. Unfortunately Covid shut down the off course shops and drinking holes for the time being.

Slow pace
Had to jump a few holes because the pace was very slow
