About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Pace of Play is a Problem
The course is in excellent shape and is challenging. The only drawback is the lack of rangers which gives some foursomes the latitude to play very slow. It took nearly 5 hours to finish our round because of one problematic group ahead of us.

Great course, Great Value
This course is pretty much spot on. Great conditions- well kept greens, thick sand, challenging layout. Priced very fair. Everything you want in a course. Unfortunately Covid shut down the off course shops and drinking holes for the time being.

Slow pace
Had to jump a few holes because the pace was very slow

Course in good shape!
Round was great! My only complaint is that there was only one bathroom option- none on the course.

Great course, no range
I really liked this course, great layout, great greens and carts have GPS. Some good doglegs and elevation changes. Not a long course for big hitters but plenty of opportunities to hit driver. My only complaint is that here is no range.

Run like a well oiled machine

Golfing Gem
I have been playing this course for the past 20 years. The renovations that were completed in 2003 created one of the finest public golf courses in the area. The course is well maintained with greens that run true. Course length and layout require you to shape shots and use the majority of the clubs in your bag. The carts are equipped with GPS and scoring which are exceptional. Pace of play is reasonable at 5 hours per round. Great overall value for the quality of the course. I would certainly recommend Traditions at Chevy Chase for a great day of golfing fun.
The staff are very friendly, and the food in the clubhouse is terrific.
As an aside I have attended numerous banquets there as well. The facilities are superb along with the food served.
Good Except for Aeration
Chevy Chase provides a nice round of golf at a reasonable price on a well-maintained course. Unfortunately, aeration was in progress for some fairways and had been recently completed on greens, accounting for reduced cost. However, despite this, all leaves were being kept off the fairways and those not being aerated were in excellant condition. The re-do of this course to prevent flooding was largely successful and I would recommend giving it a try.

Holes changed to par threes
Four of the holes were changed to par threes because the course is under construction GolfNow should have let me know when I booked . They blame the course the course blames them the course.is pretty beat up the course has tire marks all over all the fairways from construction trucks driving on it . Not what I expected
