Butter Fairways....
Everything’s good, butter fairways. Of the 10 fairways hit off the tee, my ball was laying in a divot on 7 of them. Very frustrating when you have to play it as it lies. Lots of holes that need repair in fairways.
However, It’s early in the year, hope to return in a few months to more plush grounds.
Rolling Downhill
Usually a mid tier course in my ranking of Chicagoland courses, Water’s Edge is trending in the wrong direction. I am willing to overlook the lack of there being a starter and patches of torn up fairway and attribute it to being early in the season and business of a holiday weekend. The round took about 5+ hours being bottlenecked at certain holes.
The challenging course layout and was offset by the course conditions. I will give Water’s Edge the benefit of the doubt this time and see if it improves.
Great course but slow day
Wide open course, great rate, and friendly staff. Things weren’t fully up n running for the season so I’ll cut them a little slack but 18 holes took 5.5 hours (eeeek)

Spring Golf
The course was in excellent shape for the first day of spring. I can’t wait to play it again. I love the challenge of each hole.

Good place to play
Course condition was very good.
Pace of play was good, we teed off at 7:30 and finished by 11:00.
Can’t rate amenities cause of Covid-19 restrictions.
Thanks so much for your review, Paul. We value your feedback and hope to see you back again soon!

Course needs attention
While other courses have had maintenance issues, this course has had no course management in keeping up with maintaining tee boxes, fairways, and greens. I have only seen one course in worse/similar shape this year. We had a one-hour tee off time delay due to frost in the morning. The starter, who has been with Water's Edge for years, was pleasant to chat with during the wait. However, there are no rangers on the course. Hole #10 and #11 took roughly 70 minutes to play with 3-4 groups backed up at each tee box...unacceptable! Groups were even calling it a day because they did not want to wait. We always liked this course, but likely not to return for at least a few years.
Hi, we’re sorry to hear you did not have an enjoyable experience at Water's Edge. We are currently making improvements to the course and expect conditions to be closer to what you would usually experience at our course. We are continually working to ensure pace of play is improved. We appreciate your feedback, please reach out directly if you’d like to chat further!
Complete Lack of Control
Unexpectedly perfect weather in October made for a very busy day, but they were completely unprepared and had a complete lack of control. First off, there were no carts available and we had to wait for groups to come in to clamor over their carts. We were there 30 minutes early and teed off 10 minutes late. There was no starter so that was a free for all. The course was somehow during all of this still allowing walk ins with no reservations despite being booked. The tee time before my foursome was a foursome that were apparently strangers, so since there was no starter they just decided that they'd split into two twosomes rather than playing together as 1 group. On an already fully saturated course, injecting ANOTHER group into the tee time before mine ended up making for exceptionally slow play. We got through 13 holes before having enough and left. Very disappointing. We will not be back.
