Great Golf Course for a Saturday
Water's Edge was really a great course, and it is on my "A-List" for my Chicago Public Courses. The course was in great shape, had challenging but true greens, and each hole was unique. The Staff, Starter, and Cart Girl were all very friendly. This is a must-play on a Saturday with the friends!
There was no starter when we teed off at 1:20. Concession stand was not open.. we saw ranger at various times but he never spoke to us. All he seemed to be doing was picking up garbage from the cans
Greens very slow rough not cut but to be expected for the price.
Great Upkeep
Course was in very great shape, the staff there was super nice and friendly will definitely be coming back!
Expected more
We play a lot of local area courses, Waters Edge used to be a top course. The greens were terrible and the tee boxes were just as bad. This course for the money is fair at best. There is to much out there to justify playing this course.
Aerated
Don’t play here for a month. 9 holes closed for aeration and the other nine that are open are basically not puttable. Freshly punched and sanded. The course will be great again in a month though. Strong and interesting layout. Lots of good holes.
Greens punched and sanded
Don’t play here until late May. Nine holes were closed and the nine that were open 5-13 were just punched and sanded. Basically unplayable. The staff apologized as the aeration was earlier than they were told. The nine hole closure led to issues at the turn as they tried to stagger those players turning with those starting. Made for a long day. The layout of this course is strong and interesting, so definitely play it. Just wait for the greens to recover.
Aerating...
Booked on Monday for a Tuesday round- got to the course and was informed they were aerating- no notice provided on Golfnow. Aside from the aeration, they closed half the course (to aerate it) and we were only allowed to play 5 thru 13- twice to make our 18. Huge disappointment- wish we would have been told prior to arriving at the course. As we made the "turn" back to 5- it was a mess. There were 2-3 groups each hole- a little notice prior would have avoided many upset golfers...
There isn’t enough space to express my disappointment with my round of golf today. Truly terrible
Pace of play
Played in 4.25 hours which is very good for a Sunday
