Not worth 70 bucks
Played 71 bucks for 18 today. Have waited almost every single hole. Fairways are being re-seeded, in very rough shape. Tee boxes and greens in decent shape. No rangers to be seen.
TerrificTrack; needs some TLC
I love this track. For a Municipal course this is typically one of my favorites. Sand traps were in the best condition that i have seen.
However , many of the fairways appeared to have been either dried out, or hit by a fungus.
This was not worth $71 based on condition of the course.
I am hoping that this is just due to the summer weather conditions as my grass and many of my neighbors are suffering from a fungus.
I hope to be back in the spring, but unlikely i will play again this year.
Unusually poor course condition
I’ve played here several times before and usually really enjoy it, but the course is in pretty bad shape right now. Many of the fairways have a lot of grooves / cut marks throughout, so they may be doing some sort of repairs or something. The staff is always top notch and typically this is a great course for the price, but I don’t think I’ll play it again this year.
fairways poor
they had sign up saying that the fairways had brown patches-that was an understatement -plus the were out tilling the fairways with a tractor cutting lines and putting down fertilizer/seed made them very unpredictable-greens were in mid summer shape and well watered-had we known about fairways might have gone elsewhere
Course had really deteriorated
I have played at this course many times and I will never return. Course was in horrible condition - fairways were a patchwork of dead grass and green areas - which they warned us about when we arrived, greens and fairways were Severely beat up, And a lot of tee boxes were practically all sand. It took 5:15 hours to play 18 which is unacceptable and had to call club house to get a ranger to help move things along (some golfers quit). Some golfers were over-served Alcohol on the course and were loud/obnoxious and slowed the round down to a crawl. The ranger actually told us that the police were called and that that group would not be playing “anywhere soon”. I wouldn’t recommend this course!
First Time at Waters Edge
Never played this course before but went out with a buddy on a Saturday morning. I had read the reviews about the fairways and they are accurate. They apparently sprayed some herbicide or pesticide on the fairways that left large brown spots. Now, it looks like they are overwatering the course to bring them back. Either way, it was 10:00 a.m. , 85 degrees, bright and sunny, and some of the fairways were sopping wet. Greens were in okay shape. The course design is good, a bit challenging, but not too tough. Tee boxes (especially on the back 9) were in terrible shape, mostly just sand without any grass.
Overall, for $50, it wasn't too bad. If I'd spent $70, I'd feel like I spent too much given the course's condition.

Great layout, poor fairway conditions
First time playing after having heard good things. $71 with a cart so not exactly a steal. Layout was truly great and challenging without punishing, though some mature trees had some branches hanging a bit menacingly. The greens and tee boxes were about as I'd expect for a public course, but bunkers were hard packed. The real issues here were the fairways (huge brown patches but also somehow squishy and wet, either from irrigation issues or bad drainage), and COVID protections - no foam in cups and all the rakes were left in bunkers. I'll be back but not this season until the fairways are back in reasonable shape.
Dishonesty regarding course conditions
I booked a tee time off teeoff.com for Saturday 8-21-20. I had played Water's Edge about 3 years ago and the course was super soggy at that time. I figured since we had not received rain recently the course should not be wet. IT WAS STILL SOGGY!!! Fairway shots plugged! Ok, let's get to the dishonesty part. After reading a few reviews of golfers who played recently, they had mentioned the fairways being in terrible shape. I called the pro shop and asked them if the reviews are accurate or not. They told me "there are a few brown spots in the fairways, but the course is in great shape. There is still grass under the brown spots, so the fairways are completely playable, they just don't look nice." I called golfnow to get a refund, as I believed the on line reviews than the pro shop, and the course would not refund my money. So, I played on a picture perfect day. I have played in cow pastures that are in better shape than these fairways! Most of the fairways have HUGE brown spots where there is no grass under the brown spots, a lie by the pro shop. Look, if the course is in shiity shape be freaking honest about it, don't lie when a golfer calls and specifically asks about your fairways. I know money is tight in this pandemic world, and every dollar counts, but being unethical is not the way to get golfers back when things pick up. Needless to say, I will never come back here, and if you do not like playing on fairways that the incompetent greenskeeper killed, I would find another course.
Good course but tee boxes aerated
The August summer draught showed in the fairways but the greens were in good shape. Unfortunately, the course was aerating the tee boxes while providing a cleaned off area to hit. The ground was very soft and hard to solid ground. The course is longer and harder than expected with a lot of water in play. Holes #8 & 9 can derail your round as 8 seems to always play into the wind. Playing again this week so will see how the tee boxes are now.

Why
Why is pace so slow?
Why are the greens so poor?
Why doesn’t anybody do anything?
Why did I go back today?
