Bear Slide
The course was in excellent shape and the pace of play was very good. I would recommend this facility to all golfers.
All your own
I have played some nice courses the past few weeks in Indiana. Rock Hollow, Trophy Club and now Bear Slide. Bear Slide is definitely one of the best. One thing I really liked was how each hole feels isolated from the next so you feel like you are out there by yourself.Bear Slide is a great layout and provides quite a challenge.
My only complaints were the fair way on #2 definitely needs some TLC and the green on the par 3 #16 was in awful shape and down to dirt in areas. I would also say the tee shot from the Blue tees on hole #15 was almost unfair with how tight it was.
Friendly staff. Course was in great condition.
Course was in great condition. Very friendly staff.
Love the course design.
The course is very scenic and beautiful. The course condition is excellent. The greens are maintained very well. Got a birdie on hole 8, yay :)
The only problem I had was the pace of play by course members. The group of 4 behind us were rushing us, staring us down. Extremely rude for a course this nice :( They even hit a couple of balls within 10 feet of us several times.
Driver Fail
Played as a threesome on a hot and breezy day. The course was in pretty good shape, but both greens and tees show signs of play, which is both good and bad. Despite the wide and forgiving fairways, we struggled to find them most of the day, but when we missed the course was reasonably fair in terms of giving us an out to get back in play. Found the greens to be exceptionally fast. One of my favorite tracks in the Indy area.
One of the best in Central Indiana
The course was in great condition. Surprisingly few soggy spots given all the heavy rain recently. The quality of the turf on the tee boxes, greens, and fairways is about as good as it gets for a public course.
Fantastic
Bear Slide is an absolutely fantastic public course. I can't wait to play it again!
A must play for Indiana golfers
The course was in excellent shape. We had not played the course for 6 or 7 years. The book on the cart helped but even with it you can get into a lot of trouble quickly. I will go back with mental notes I made and hopefully be able to shave a few more strokes off with better course management. My foursome enjoyed the challenge but this course can humble you if you miss your intended fairway targets and lay ups. Greens were as true and nice as I have played on this year.
Fantastic Course
Loved the layout and conditions despite the rain at the end of June. Only hole that had an issue was 16, where they are doing some repair work on the green. But its a fun, challenging course and worthy of its reputation.
Play it more than once!
The front 9 is pretty straightforward, but it's really hard to know how to play some holes on the back 9 until you've seen them. I'd like to have mulligans on at least 3. The book on the cart tries to help, but you really have to see these holes to play them correctly. Having said that, it's a fun course, and I'd like another crack at it now that I have a round under my belt. Good shape considering the rain, nice folks.
Great Value
Great layout and alway in great shape. Best value for the money in central Indiana.
Really like the course
I usually play Bear Slide at least a couple times a year. The course was in good shape and the staff friendly. The only downside to the round was getting stuck behind a foursome that was playing excruciatingly slow. I was part of a twosome and with no one in front of us played the front nine in 1.5 hours. We met another twosome on the 11th tee who were behind the foursome. The foursome made no effort to let anyone play through and the twosome we met claimed a couple group had "already bailed". A ranger came through about hole number 14 and evidently said nothing to the group because nothing changed. We stuck it out and it took us just over 3 hours to play the back nine.
Great course and great value
It seems like this is my private course whenever I play. Hate to write about how good it is for fear of not being able to play in under 4 hours but want them to have plenty of green fees to continue to pay for this well maintained and challenging course. Great value, fantastic staff and challenging course.
Fantastic Course!
I played when there was a forecast of 50% chance of thunderstorms... after 3 days of heavy rain. The course was wet, but very playable. The best part of was the fact that fewer than 8 people were on the course when I played. I was able to complete the round within 3 hours. Despite the conditions, the course was in immaculate shape. I'm definitely coming back, that's for sure.
Great course
This course provides many levels of challenge based on the tees you choose. Course condition and amenities are excellent.
Not a course for high handicaps
We live 10 minutes from this course so we were pleased to find a deal on Golf Now. The course is in good shape and is a real test of golfing ability. Wide fairways but a considerable amount of trouble if you stray or lose focus. The heather is ever present and the sand traps abundant.
It is a course you need to play again to realize a lot of the trouble. The back nine is a lot of target golf with some tricky holes.Lost 2 balls but found 6!
I am 66 and played from gold tees and had all I could handle on most holes.
The course was too tough for my wife who is about a 28 hcp. Too much trouble and hard for her to carry some trouble areas.
Absolutely stunning
Beautiful course on good condition. Greens were still recovering from aeration but rolled ok. If you live in central Indiana this must be on your courses to play list.
Worth the Long Drive!
I took a four hour ride down to Cicero Indiana to play this nice Layout course. Was impressed by the condition of the fairways and the senic look of this course. But the one thing that kept me from giving this course a perfect 5 was the greens here. for such a nice place to visit, this courses greens every one of the greens had massive Divots on them, which made putting tuff. and the fact I fixed on average 6 ball marks on every hole. I holed out a 41-40-81 from the tips or back tees here. Has the right mix of sand, water, and rough, but I found the fairways to be a lot wider then the video on Utube I watched. Not a hard front nine at all, but the back got fun and has a lot of elevation changes. But I met 2 great guys I got paired up with, and we had a great time playing this course. I would recommend this course highly if in mid Indiana.
Best Links Course
Love Bearslide, best true links course in the central Indiana area. Challenging holes but fair. greens are alway true and bunkers are well maintained. Tee boxes are level and multiple tee boxes let you play to your skill level. Watch the online video score card on the course website for valuable insite and tips on ball placement. Only negative is no storm shelter on the course and a couple of greens are in need of maintainence due to what appears to be flooding or disease and patrons need to learn how to fix their divots and ball marks. Fantastic experience will play here again!
Bear Slide pace of play
Pace of play was held up by one or two groups, staff was informed, nothing was done to speed up pace of play, very disappointing. Pace of play should have bee 3.5-4 hrs for the round instead it was closer to 5 hrs.
