An afternoon @ Bear Slide
Very good course which is in great condition. From the back tees this is a difficult course.
Great Course!
Great Course! Tougher than I had imagined. For the price, it was one of the nicer courses I've played in the area. Have played similar courses for $80-$90 per round and this one was $55 through GolfNow.
BEAR SLIDE May 16th, 2015
Excellent Course and was in great shape. Enjoyed Bear Slide!
Great Value
It's a haul from Indy (50 mins from downtown), but we'll worth it for the price and quality. Slick greens, great layout.
Good track...
Hard to get a better bang for your buck around the Indy area. A great course for low handicappers with the tips being around 7400 yards.
Great Layout
This was my first time playing the course. I enjoyed the layout. It was difficult, but there weren't a lot of hidden obstacles. Greens are coming back from being aerated, but still rolled very well. Practice area was also nice.
Good course for a good value
The two nines play a bit differently with the front being more links style and the back with more target golf. The course was is really good condition when we played and with the GolfNow rate it was a great value. I recommend this course to anyone in the area.
Very Challenging
We played at 1:09 in early April, still cool, then it rained for a few holes. Cart path only was completely understandable because it was wet but the course still played pretty good. The greens were not just hit and sit but would actually roll out a little. Decent speed for this early and very true. We made a few nice ones. Definitely had fun and look forward to more rounds there this year.
Few suggestions
the golfnow advertised rate that is "such an amazing deal" is identical to the pro shop advertised rates right now. $30 w a cart before 1 during week. Also, they don't tell you the greens were just aerated and they still use the old punch hole technology which makes it impossible to putt on especially without any sand filler. It was not fun.
Beautiful course - just aerated so not worth the price
This is a very picturesque course. I didn't realize they had just aerated when I booked. While the course is fantastic and normally I would have rated it much higher, it's not worth the full fall rate while the greens are still recovering.
Great Course
I had played Bear Slide a couple time a few years back and enjoyed it. It is a decent drive from much of the city and I don't make it up that way often. The course was in great condition, the fairways were in excellent condition as well as the tees and greens. The 16th was showing some wear as to be expected from its location. Overal i love the course, the conditions were excellent and pace of play was great.
A great value.
Course in great condition and was fun to play. From the time I requested the tee time, checking in, playing the course and afterwards, it was a rewarding experience. I would recommend Bear Slide to anyone wanting a golf challenge.
Great deal beautiful course
Challenging course 2 of the greens were in rough shape greens are cut low and rolled which made them extremely slick. Overall a great experience. Person in the pro shop seemed annoyed that I bought on line.
Worth the hike
Shortly after moving to the Indy area last year, I was told that Bear Slide was one of the public courses that I should play. It is 70 minutes away but finally made it up there. With a 7 index I played the blue 6500 yd tees. A good choice. Fairways are generous with few exceptions. The course defenses are around the greens, ie if you miss one it is difficult to get up and down. Most par 3's are challenging due to small greens and/or water. Par 5's are quite manageable if you hit a reasonable drive. As far as staff, I arrived an hour early and said I'd like to tee off early if I could. I was told I needed to wait until my tee time. So I practiced for an hour and watched one foursome tee off during that time. Desk pro seemed like a "just the facts" kind of guy. So I rated staff as average at best. Course was in good shape except for 16 green which is in low area and was not up to par. Overall, I enjoyed the round and would recommend the course. There are too many other good courses closer to my home to expect I'll get there very often.
Nice condition...Challenging but not too tough
Well conditioned course, Very fair off the tee. A good mix of easy medium and hard greens
Nice Course
This is a very nice course. There was a mistake put into golf now and we were able to play this course for only $7 each. I thought the staff may scoff at it but they honored it without any hassle.
Thanks BearSlide
Course set up
Played 8-31-14 arrived in a heavy rain, stopped 20 min. later. The course drained really well, set up is very nice, and keep the ball in the fairways and you are rewarded. Very nice course to play.
Great round with friends
The weather was overcast, but it never rained a drop. The staff did a great job for us and the course was in great shape, with a comfortable pace of play.
Great course
Very nice course and it was in great shape. I played the blue tees and even though it was only 6500 yards, it was very challenging.
