Beautiful day for first time out, Renovations ongoing to the club house. Purchased beverages at the turn but they had no ice or coolers to keep them cold.Ladies cut in front of us on first tee coming off of the back nine. No ranger to be seen.

Plenty of course for the money

Nice course. As has been said, an older course, but plenty of spunk. Not crowded when we went, so breezed arond in 3 and a half. Would play again without question.

Sneaky tough course

I have played Beechwood many times over the last few years. It has improved each year, and they are currently redoing the clubhouse. Because of that, there was no food in the kitchen, which was a bummer when I was craving a hot dog at the turn. The course really looks like an easy one as you arrive, but there are all sorts of unique challenges, from narrow landing areas, to elevated greens, to small patches of water that you need to be aware of in advance. This really feels like a course I should score in the high 70's-low 80's, but I usually wind up sneaking into the 90's. Overall a fun challenge for a reasonable rate.

A really country club experience (sarcasm apparent)

This was an OK course. Not a bad drive from where I live. I only played here because it was a semi-equidistant alternative for my partner and I.Given the age of the course, it was well maintained. I paid $25 with a cart on a Sunday - which is a deal compared to other courses - and that's just about all it's worth.

This course is only challenging if you tee off with driver on every hole. The course was designed in the early 20th century and the style play was different back then, so you have to swallow your pride and tee off using an iron on the shorter narrower par 4s. You will have a much more enjoyable experience if you use every club in your bag. Take some time to study the course before your round.

This course will advertise it is a "country club", which is a stretch considering the club house looks like a nicely decorated fallout shelter from the 1950's and there is no driving range. In this case, use of the labels "club" and "member" are just loosely used adjectives to polish a seasonal membership created by the management of an aging course to generate some sort of sustainable income - which is brilliant considering the closure of many aging courses across the country, but not unique.

The "country club" has also generated an over-inflated ego in their "members"; meaning, members believe they belong to a Greenbrier, or Pebble Beach caliber country club. "Outsiders" or "non-members' playing at their "club" is looked down upon. You would believe "members" would would be happy the golf community is taking interest in their club and would be happy for the extra money - which could only benefit them - but this not the case.

To summarize, if your desperate to get out on the cheap, then this course is for you.

Great Course

Only 2 other players on the course. So pace was not an issue. Condition of the course was good considering it was the middle of Nov. and the temperature was 47.

pretty good

If it has rained recently the course tends to be on the soggy side. Greens are very good for average player... Not so fast you can't keep it close.

But no driving range. The club pro is Kyle and he does a great job. Overall its challenging to average player. A little short for good players. The hot deal makes it a great deal.

Very friendly staff.

Course has improved very much since 2016, but needs some work on the bumpy fairways. Still fun to play.

Great layout

First course I've been to that ends with a par 3. Loved the layout and played at a comfortable pace for a busy Saturday.

Good old school track

The course is very fair for the average length hitter. Since the install of the new irrigation system it is coming back to life. Greens are fast but fair. Love this place. Play it you will understand why, but I hate seventeen just because.

Beechwood Golf - Laporte, IN

This is an old style course with a fair amount of trees but very little water. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape, especially for a public course. You will use every club in your bag here. There are some longish par 5's and interesting doglegs. We probably played the wrong tees - should have played the gold (we all have our Medicare cards). But it was a fun and beautiful day.

Horrible up keep

I've never golfed a course where the grass was so tall if you barely hit it off the fairway you couldn't find your ball. That place needs some better grounds crew or management cause that was probably the last time I ever golf there. When I first started to pay for my green fees they told the price on GolfNow was wrong and charges me $33 instead of $25. I said something after we played and got $23 back. But I did pay for two of us golfing. Still overall just really bad upkeep on course.

Scheduling problem

When I got to the clubhouse they told me that someone had already checked in at the time I had booked through GolfNow. Fortunately they were not very busy yet for a Friday morning so we got worked in without any problem.

We were the second of five twosomes following a foursome of older gentlemen so it seemed as if it took a longer time to play since we had to wait on most of our shots. They didn't offer to let anyone play through so we just hooked up with the twosome behind us on the back nine. Still had to wait on most shots but played the round under four hours.

Cheap!

The course was decent. Pretty straight forward and very easy greens. Could use a little better upkeep but is probably par for the price. The only complaint was pace of play. It was terrible they just need someone to enforce it or teach people about the idea of playing through. I will try it again to see if it was a one time thing. Overall I would recommend the course especially for the price.
