The golf course is named for a tree: nuff said

Better stay in the fairway! You will encounter mini forests on almost every hole if your tee shots are errant.
I am a senior woman, there were maybe 2 holes that the forward tees were more than a couple yard advantage. That makes it tough to compete when you are playing with your son and husband.

Great course for this area

Fun, yet difficult course to play. Went on a Friday and the pacing was still good. I wish all courses would offer food that vegetarians could eat and then I'd be a lot happier, but none that I know of do! Overall great time, I'd recommend to any and everyone!

Playability

I like the challenging nature of the course and yet it is very playable.. The par 3's are manageable but tough.. Par 5's are scorable.. Par 4's have a good mixture of toughness and scorabilty

Excellent value

Course was in excellent condition. The greens were quick and in pristine condition. The clubhouse is dated but is still really cool to see the history in the place. I live in Crown Point and would happily drive to La Porte to play this course again.

Pace of Play Extremely Slow

The course was in good shape and it was a good layout. The greens were consistent and putted true. The carts were well worn and some were in need of repair. The course was not really crowded for a holiday weekend but the pace of play was excruciatingly slow, I played with my wife and grandchildren and we had to wait on almost every shot. I liked the course well enough to play it again, hopefully the pace of play will be better the next round.

Love the layout

Have played here around 10 times. I love the variety and layout of the course. It gives you a bit of everything. Very fun but very challenging because there are so many trees.

Fun municipal course

We like the old style courses with lots of hardwoods that make for beautiful scenery in the fall.

The course is a hidden gem!

Have played Beechwood since high school golf in the 70's and it's as good as ever. This is a classic example of a traditional tree lined layout worth the effort to put on your summer rotation.

Beautiful Course

This was a gorgeous day to play golf. the course was challenging and long. We did get stuck behind the back end of the city tournament they were holding so we would wait a while to tee off but it is a very nice course.

Good course

Greens are fast and smooth. Sand traps are hard. Very different conditions than those in Florida my home state.

Not going back

It began to pour after 6 holes and when we went in to get the raincheck, for two players the attendant only wanted to honor one person for 9 holes to replay because I got the deal on Golf Now? I told him that was a ridiculous practice since most places honor the full raincheck. After much haggling and when I told him I was a regular customer and I was not coming back, he then gave my money back? That was a pleasant out come, but all very strange.

Really nice layout

This is one of the most enjoyable layouts in the area for a public course. It is always well kept. The driving range is a nice addition.

Good old traditional course. Good value.

Built in the 1930's so not very long at 6600 yards from the tips but distance control needed due to some water hazards and dog legs. Fun, sporty parkland course that is a great value in the area. Course staff very friendly.
