Nice, Challenging Course
We played on a weekend, and waited at the turn and on a few holes - but otherwise the pace was good. Nice course, with a sporty layout. There were a few blind shots and some elevation changes. The greens were in good shape - not slow and pretty true. Great course for the price.
shocked
I played here years ago and the course condition was top notch. I returned to find a poorly manicured course that should not bring a premium price. The bunkers are 2 star at best with many of them overgrown with weeds. The back 9 is very unforgiving, far more so than any tournament course. My guess is this course has had an ownership change in the past few years and the old way is no longer the new way. Overall disappointed and will not return.
Gem
I would consider Aberdeen one of northwest Indiana's few gems. The course is in beautiful shape, staff is very friendly, and you don't feel ripped off leaving. I don't think I would recommend walking this course due to a few journeys from green to tee. Also the notes of the deal I received clearly stated that it came with 18 holes with a cart and practice balls but when I got there they charged me an additional $5.00 for the small bucket of balls. All things considered, I'll be back again.
greens
The greens were in great shape, hardly any divot marks.
love this place
This course is one of the best in northwest indiana. The conditions are great greens are well kept and it is quite difficult yet fair. I highly recommend Aberdeen to anyone.
Great Scenery equals Great Golf
Was a great day for golf. No wind, mid 80's and sunny. Pace of play was good for the amount of people there. This is a must play course for every decent golfer. Could be a struggle for you high handicappers as it is very tight and long.
Always a good day at Aberdeen
As always, a great round on a great course. Played after a rain and all was well. I would recommend this course to anyone if you haven't already played it.
great place to play
very nice course, country club atmosphere. they ask that you wear a shirt with a collar and no blue jeans. i paid $32.00 for 18 holes with a cart on a friday afternoon around 3 pm. you might even get it for $25 on the course website. lots of tall grass areas, which are more of an issue on the back nine than the front. the back nine has a lot of wetland areas adjacent to the holes. on the day i was there, they had over 5 inches of rain in the previous week. the course drained well enough to allow carts off the path. only on hole # 12 was there an issue. there was a large amount of standing water around the green. this particular hole is surrounded by wetlands.
aberdeen
a fine quality course , a great value and very nice staff. I recommend riding because green to tee can be a long way and hilly
WORTH THE TRIP
I live in Chicago, so about an hour drive, well worth it, EVERY TIME, course was in great shape, real cool layout, a course I wouldn't recommend walking, long distances between tees. The staff could not be nicer. There tee boxes, for every level of golfer, which makes a real challenging course, very playable. Very reasonable price wise as well.
great course
Course was in great shape.Greens are a bit small
they roll true except for spots with unrepaired ball marks.some tight driving holes.Bring extra balls.
Only complaint is not all flags had the set up to use
laser link range finder so yardages were tough to get
sometimes. Loved the course .very senic and peaceful. Can,t wait to play it again.
staff was very friendly and helpful
challenging
everything was great. weather, course, price.
just an all around great day!
Aberdeen
This is a fun course to play. You must keep it in the fairway. The roughs are high and consequently play tough and your ball can be hard to fine. The greens were very smooth and true. We felt bad about the caliber of customers. Greens had multiple ball marks on every green and the traps had many footprints as deep as 6 inches. Come on golfers, respect the course and your fellow golfers.
Great potential...
This course can help make you the best golfer. Great play, gorgeous grounds and staff was incredibly friendly.
beautiful golf course
beautiful layout, tough golf course for handicap over 10 but I enjoy the sceneries.
This course had issues
The Aerification of the greens, which made it impossible to putt. I understand that it is necessary to do this but the holes were so large, unlike any I have ever seen before.
Great Golf Experience
We got off ahead of our tee time. The fairways and greens were in great shape. No delay during the round. The setting has natural beauty with wild life (saw a deer, a wild turkey, a hawk, and hundreds of squirrels. Out of the last 5 courses played, this was by far the best overall experience.
Nice....but...
A scorecard with the hole layout would be handy. Friendly staff and the course was in pretty good shape. Many of the sand traps were full of water. More yardage markers needed. Otherwise, it is an interesting course with some unique holes. You at times seem isolated, but on many holes you feel like you are playing through the middle of a subdivision.
Tough, Remote, and Very Slow
Aberdeen is in good condition. The fairways, tees and greens are very nice. The rough isn't a factor, but some of the holes have long carries with hidden ravines and some holes were cart path only.
On the second hole right in the middle of our fairway was
a reincarnation of Carl Spackler. This grounds keeper stood
poking the ground in the middle of the fairway while we were
trying to tee off. After a few minutes of this I asked him what he was doing. He said that he was looking for the 150 yard marker hole oblivious of us. Later he kept following us with his noisy maintenance cart.
There is no starter and no Marshall on this course. They do not allow carts in the parking lot. You have to wait for the bag man to come and take your clubs down stairs to your cart. This
is a big time delay. There's only one bag man.
After the fourth hole we ran into a group of female foursomes
who claimed to be a ladies league. The pace of play slowed to
a crawl.
What could have been an enjoyable round of golf was ruined by
these inept players who never asked if we wanted to play through as we waited ten minutes on every shot.
This is a hilly albeit scenic course which requires long carries over valleys and dales.
The 150 yard pole is frequently way off for distance and should not be relied on.
This course could clean up it's act by using a good timer/starter and a roaming Marshall.
A wet day, but a good one!!!
The 3+ inches of rain the night before made the course very long and challenging. The crew, however, has done a great job in keeping it playable, even as wet as it was.
