Great value in the Bluegrass
For a resort course, you would expect Griffin Gate to be hard to get on and difficult to play given the type of players a lot of resorts have to cater to. This is completely not true at GG which offers a great golf course for a really great price. I play from the tips and the course is challenging, fair, and really a fun place to play.
It was very good condition through tee ground to green.
I got a ball from next hole tee during we were playing on green no.14. He made mis-shot from tee box at no.15. We surprised that ball came from behind us.That is first time experience. unblievable.
Not worth even the discounted price
Had not played Griffen Gate in many years...and wont be returning. The staff was nice and we were one of the only groups on the course...so the round went super fast.
That being said the course itself was in OK shape...nice fairways and greens. There is only a plastic "warm-up net" instead of a range..and that only fits two people. The "sand traps" on the course are all dirt and are not maintained at all. There is no drinking water on the course (it was 85 and sunny), no where to wash off golf balls and all the restrooms on the course were locked. There are water hazards all over the back nine, which would be fine had it not reaked of sewage.
The normal rate on this course is $75 a person and we got on for $45 each with this site...it was still not worth the fast pace or time. I will not be returning and can not recommend....
Well maintained course but had clubhouse issues.
The course played well, with well manicured greens and smooth fairways. Fairly challenging course with lots of trees. Friendly staff with the only complaint being that when we finished our round at 6:15pm the clubhouse was locked up. We could not change our clothes or grab a drink.
This course is well maintained!
Excellent course for my skill level! Staff was ready for me and recognized I had scheduled through Golf Now. Course was in great condition!
Beautiful Course
First course I've ever played with 5 par 5's and 5 par 3's. Besides the first hole, all of the par 5's are pretty difficult with great risk/reward. Paying $30 through golfnow was reasonable. Not sure I would pay the normal $60-$75 to play this course. Had a great time tho
Love the layout!!!!
Great course layout with long par 3's and shorter par 5's. Number 10 is an awesome hole and the houses only come into play on 3 holes if you have a slicing problem. The yellow tees make the course totally different than the blue tees with not only adding yardage but creating different angles of attack. Playing this one again!!
Without a doubt the best public course in Lexington.
Staff came out of the clubhouse as we dropped our bags and asked for our group name. I did not even have to go inside to hand off my Golf Now printout. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens in fabulous shape. Sand dispensers on carts and most divots filled on boxes and fairways. Beer prices comparable to sitting at a bar. Coolers provided when beer ordered.
Great Value for the money! The course was in very good condition
Course does not have much for practice facility but is very well maintained and provides some very challenging par 3.
Friendly Layout
Griffin Gate is a very user friendly course. A little more attention to detail is needed with respect to the bunkers and rough, but in general a good course for the money.( $45.00 on Sunday ).
Amazing Time
Course is in great condition. Loved the lay out. Three challenging par 3s over 210, 220, 230 yards. Sand/water guarded many of the the greens. Green speeds were outstanding. The fairways were pristine. Course plays shorter than it looks. Middle part of course is difficult compared to the beginning and end. Had a great time and I will be going back.
several different green fees
Interesting...If you call the pro shop it is $60 to play. If you book online, it was only $35. I'd play for $35, maybe not $60. Convenient location and nice course....
Very good course for money
First time to play this course. Staff very nice and accommodating. Had a Friday 3:20 tee time but jumped on at 3 as a single taking my time behind a threesome. Course was in very good condition and drained very well after a week of rain. No dead patches and greens pretty good. Good combo of water hazards and blind shots to keep things interesting. Got behind two large groups that slowed things down for the back 9, but overall a very good experience. I will be back.
Best in Lexington area
I love this course.
In fact, it's one of the most expensive courses in Lexington.
But, it's the best course near Lexington area.
I made my first life-time birdie at this course.
And I also made my life-time lowest score at this course.
It has not only challenging holes but also fun and easier holes.
There are 120 yard par 3 hole and 210 yard par 3 hole.
In some holes, the houses are very near to the fairway. So I had to more concentrate than other courses.
The fairways and greens are regulated perfectly.
The course was in great shape considering the time of year (February)
Course was in great shape considering time of year we played. Staff Friendly and considerate. Played in approximately 3:15. One group let us play thru. Sand traps weren't in very good shape but I assume that's due to weather last few days and just haven't gotten to maintain them.
great course, normally 70.00, not worth it at that price but i managed to get on for 31.00 because of golf now
i enjoyed the round but at the back nine it was backed up pretty bad. it took 3 hours to play the back. They may have booked maybe 5 tee times at the same time? i do`nt know but it was bad! other than that it was good especially at that price.
Great course, great staff, and great value.
the course was in great shape, and every staff member we encountered engaged us to make sure we were having a great experience. The Golfnow deal made it a perfect outing. Thanks!
Super condition
For the time of year this course was in great condition well manicured and excellent greens
Best course in Lexington
Every whole offered a challangeing experience. Every whole mad you think about your club selection because of the doglegs. You defenetly have to know how far you hit your clubs. hit the ball to far you are in the trees, hit the ball to short you wont have a direct shot to the green. Also with the doglegs that makes it challanging is the fact that most doglegs on the inside bend of the whole has a bunker. It is with out a dout a great course to play. I Highly recommend you do.
Favorite public course in Lexington
One of the best public courses you can play in Lexington. Very challenging from the tips. Course plays tough but fair. Greens and fairways are in pristine condition. Greens are fast and fairly large. Good layout and a must play in Lexington.
