The price was right.
Not much care is put into this golf course. The fairways are mostly weeds and most greens have bare spots.
Poor course conditions
I've played this course in the past, and even though it has never had great fairway conditions, last week was by far the worst I have ever seen. So may dandelions and weeks that it was almost impossible to find your ball even in the fairway. Get what you pay for here.
Poor conditions on the course
The course was truly as previously described by others during their reviews. I should have believed what I read. The clover and dandelions were choking and completely all over the place both in and out of the fairways. The grass was being mowed but the cutting had no effect on the fairways; the grass remained too high with the weeds. I decided not to go back even for the enticing price for the round.
Are there fairways?
I regularly use Golf Now to book courses in the Kansas City area. I have never played this location but due to time constraints for the day I was only looking to play 9 holes. This was one of the few in my area that offered a 9-hole rate. Upon arrival I could tell that I was going to be in for a "sub-par" experience. There were no distinguishable fairways or tee boxes on the course. The entire course was just rough. This paired with close tee boxes made determining the directions of holes very challenging. The carts and paths were laughable many carts had broken plastic and flat tires. At times we needed to pull the gas pedal back with our hands to keep it from continuing to drive while we were hitting our shots. I will not be returning for the price. For $10 more I could play 18 at prairie highlands (4 miles away) and quit after 9 holes.
Not again
Four of us drove down from Minnesota last week of march to play early golf, found this for $12 for 18 holes and a cart couldn't believe it could be so cheap but you get what you pay for I guess .
Great staff
The staff was very friendly but the course is extremely confusing to follow. This might be because it's early in the season, but their was no signage of yardage or hole description.
worst course in kansas city
maybe the entire state of Kansas/Missouri combined? possible. the guy checking out carts was drunk, the layout of the course is a joke, the greens are pitiful, I wouldn't take money to play this place again.
Gardner
The attendant wasn't friendly. He tried to charge me 5 more dollars if I went as a single, even though the course was empty. I didn't appreciate his attitude.
You’re better off at literally any other course…
Save yourself the frustration and go to literally any other course in the area.
Never play Here
Course is a joke. I'll never play here again.
Understand why the rate was cheap...
If you're incredibly bored, need a last minute tee time, and want to try to find your ball in the 5 inch high, non-existent fairways, and seas of dandelions -- then this place is for you. Had no clue this place was here so I thought we'd check it out - especially at a cheap tee time. The place needs major upkeep and a makeover. Greens were so riddled with divots the ball wouldn't even roll smoothly and jumped around. Friendly staff but a horrible course. Don't waste your time.
You get what you pay for
I lost more money on balls i could not find in the fairway, well there really are no fairways, then I spent on the green fees. Spend the extra money on a different course. Dandelion Golf Course should be the name of the course.
Biggest plus to the course is the cheap tee times
I only play this course when everything else is booked on golfnow and I am stuck choosing Gardner as opposed to paying full price at another golf course. This course serves its purpose as a cheap alternative to other courses in the area but don't expect much.
Worse every time
Course gets worse every visit. Only play for the price, but its not worth it anymore. Carts are terrible, greens are gone and if they had true fairways, they would be terrible also. Trouble is, there are no fairways. Any other course would classify it as rough. Way too much clover so you can't find your ball. If you hit into the "rough", your ball is lost. The staff is nice on a weekend morning, but if you go later in the afternoon/evening, the head "pro" can't be bothered to help you. Don't waste your money trying to play here. Notice, I said "trying"! This course is terrible!
Horrible
The greens are all chewed up. There is no fairway it's just rough that has been cut shorter. It's really to bad this course has a nice layout to it but has not been taken care of at all!!! You are better off hitting golf balls out of your own backyard even off your driveway for that matter!!! It's $10 for a reason....
Terrible
Course is worst every time I play it. Cheap tee times usually help me to look past shoddy course conditions but I won't be back. Pace of play was rediculous, golf cart was literally falling apart, fairways have more mud than grass, etc; would not recommend until changes are made systemically.
Cheap but you get what you pay for
I know it's winter and the grass is dormant but it still could of been better. Greens had really bad rough patches. Fairways were thick and like mowed pasture grass
dont expect much
I payed 10$ for 18 with cart. I would play again but not for anymore than that. So I guess I can't complain to much.
good course for the money
It not a country club but is in the country. Its a laid back kind of course. Staff is really friendly and even better when you get to know them. There's a saying that "you get what you pay for" so the course is a so-so on condition wise but most of it is good condition. It is a moderate difficultly but have some challenging holes
Good course for the price
I'd play again because of the price and the quickness of the play. A laid back course that has some beat up greens. But I'd go again.
