Perfect size course
The length of course makes playing fun. The holes are not too long as to lose track of your play. The shorter holes are not too short as to make playing too easy.
Great value for a quick round!
While not the longest or most difficult track in the area, this is a great value if you want to play a quick round. Other golfers and the staff have been very courteous to a single and you can just play as fast as you like. There are some easier holes, but there are enough elevation changes to make some of the others into some good tests.
Interesting.....uphill, downhill, sidehill, blind approach, small greens. Not a straight forward track.
Fun golf course. A good mix of conditions requiring some thought of shot shape.
Nice inexpensive course
I am a 15 handicap and wanted to play a round of golf with my brother who maybe plays once a year. The staff at Gardner Golf Course was great and very helpful. First let me preference this review that this is not a championship course. This is a economical country course for those who want a good but inexpensive round of golf. The course was in good conditions for a lower $$ course. The only thing I could really complain about was the condition of the cart paths, they were a beat up, but that doesn’t impact the golf itself. The greens were in very good condition and putted consistently with good speed (normally low $$ courses don’t give you quality greens, these greens were consistent with higher $$ courses). The fairways and rough were kept at a good length, there was nothing special about the type of grass for the fairway, it was just mowed lawn grass. However, the fairways and the rough played fine. The course itself is a fairly simple layout, but still gives you some challenging shots. The greens are small compared to championship courses, so you will be tested to have good iron play. The course is well laid out in that doglegs and water hazards make you choose you club and the fairways are wide enough for beginners but not so wide that you can go crazy with your drives. The length is a little short for long hitters (I used a lot of fairway woods off the tee for position rather than driver for length). Overall this course played perfect for what we were looking for… low cost, but good value.
Can't beat the price.
Fairways are not in best shape, understandable after this super dry period. Greens however are in great shape.
Unimaginative
This course is very unimaginative in design. If you're looking for a cheap course to hit a few balls on then this is it. If you're looking to be challenged, look elsewhere. The fairways and rough were in horrendous shape but the greens were well kept.
